As a Network Operations Center Technician, You Will:

  • Support the monitoring of multi-platform environments and perform highly complex diagnosis and restoration activities, including monitoring of production batch cycles, reporting results of hardware and software health checks, and assisting in the execution of customer application testing and mission critical business continuity testing.
  • Coordinate break/fix remediation efforts with hardware vendors.
  • Monitor client server availability during a designated shift utilizing a suite of automation tools.
  • Assist in diagnosing highly complex service disruptions affecting client server or network availability.
  • Coordinate activities for restoration of disrupted services with technical support staff.
  • Perform critical operational tasks using predefined programming languages and multiple workstation platforms that monitor the client server and network infrastructure to perform network availability and status checks.
  • Participate in day-to-day monitoring activities and provide level 1 operational incident support (recording, investigation, escalation and applying corrective actions as deemed appropriate).
  • Under supervision, participate in problem determination and resolution activities to ensure accurate and timely reporting of problem.
  • Assist in determining method of resolving problems utilizing hardware/software diagnostic tools and operational procedures.
  • Assist with coordination activities by operations staff and vendor support personnel in resolving hardware problems affecting client server availability (may provide secondary support in monitoring and reporting network problems).
  • Use problem investigation tools to assist in analyzing the source of problems, escalate as needed and appropriately record details of the problem in incident monitoring and reporting software tools.
  • Initiate and execute change control records assigned to the National Operations Center.
  • Perform additional routine duties as assigned based by shift lead to ensure customer requirements are delivered in an accurate, complete and timely manner.
  • Identify documentation gaps and assist in correcting gaps as directed.
  • Be responsible for understanding and applying risk management discipline in decision making and contributing to your function’s risk management.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by shift lead or manager.


To Be Successful, You Need:

  • Fundamental knowledge of client server concepts, principles and infrastructure.
  • Technical knowledge and/or experience in supporting Windows, Solaris, Linux, AIX operating systems and VMWare.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and an attention to detail.
  • The ability to express technical information into clear business terms easily interpreted by customers.
  • A desire to act as a team player, work cooperatively and encourage team collaboration.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or green card holder.
  • HS diploma required.
  • 0-3 years of relevant work experience.
Bonus Points if you have:
  • Windows, Redhat Linux or AIX certification.
  • Experience in leading larger process improvement projects.
  • Basic knowledge of network concepts, principles and components is desired, but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
