As a Metadata Specialist, You Will:
Work under the direction of the Assistant Director, Information Governance to execute data management best practices for critical enterprise initiatives.
Work closely with key IT and business stakeholders to analyze and document data requirements from source data to reporting, associating data attributes to business processes and data quality controls.
Demonstrate partnership and collaboration with key stakeholders as a value-added partner in the area of data governance and compliance with data practices.
Define, orchestrate, and enable critical data management functions across multiple business partners.
Define and support the development of the enterprise-wide metadata framework, processes, procedures and guidelines for the company.
Define and support the development of an enterprise-wide metadata management repository.
Define and implement the enterprise metadata management framework, inclusive of business, operational and technical metadata.
Conduct and support planning activities in relation to metadata analysis, data quality process and best practices for establishing a data catalog and data governance for the enterprise.
Work with team to plan the implementation of Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC), Informatica Axon (Axon) and Informatica Secure@Source (S@S).
Buildout EDC for the enterprise.
Buildout Axon data governance for the enterprise.
Support the buildout of a Data Quality program using Informatica Data Quality (IDQ).
Conduct and support data profiling activities in relation to data quality assessment and metadata analysis.
Share knowledge across the team and continuously develop and enhance personal and team capabilities.
Provide technical depth concerning Informatica Data Governance, Data Discovery and Data Privacy solutions in discussions with internal resources.
Work with business stakeholders to assign sensitivity classifications to data artifacts and attributes that will be leveraged by information security practices.
Apply data standards in support of design and architecture activities.
Guide stakeholders through data harmonization activities to enhance the quality and utility of business data.
Support new enterprise-level information management capabilities and related change efforts.
Conduct enablement activities to include providing guidance and training on data management practices and tools.
Operate as a change agent, guiding and directing various data management activities, focusing on growing the maturity level of metadata management within the organization.
Define the metadata requirements associated with the Critical Data Elements (CDE’s).
Define the enterprise-wide metadata management procedures and guidelines across the data lifecycle.
Develop plans for extracting and loading metadata into the metadata repository.
Extract metadata from source systems and documentation to add context to data and information.
Work with the business and data architects to develop semantic rules and taxonomies.
Administer items in metadata repository.
Work collaboratively with technology to define and implement the enterprise metadata tool requirements.
Educate and train across all business areas to develop an understanding of the components of the metadata management procedures and guidelines.
Work with Data Governance lead to define and instrument metadata capture and storage in the Informatica data catalog tool.
Work with product teams to discover and document data lineage.
Develop and deploy oversight and management processes associated with metadata quality in the repository.
Support all data lineage collection efforts across the organization.
Work with the data governance lead to ensure that a common business glossary exists and the business terms and definitions tie to the underlying technical metadata.
To Be Successful, You Need:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Technology or Computer Science preferred.
7+ years' work experience with data/information lifecycle management and governance, metadata management, information classification, data quality, data usage, data analysis, document management, privacy and information security.
Strong understanding of information management concepts such as the difference between business and technical metadata, data governance, data lifecycle, data analysis techniques.
Ability to work cross-functionally with IT teams and key stakeholders, utilizing analytical skills in understanding data flows, dissecting problems, and delivering clear recommendations and guidance.
Experienced in data analysis, data integration and data governance.
Familiarity with conceptual, logical and physical data modeling and data dictionaries and semantics, syntax and taxonomies.
Familiarity with data architecture, storage, archiving, lineage and impact analysis.
Familiarity with data/information and related capability and risk frameworks (e.g. DMM, DMBOK).
Hands-on experience in SQL based analysis and development and related backend database technologies.
Hands-on experience with Informatica Axon Data Governance.
Hands-on experience with Informatica Data Quality, Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog, Informatica Secure@Source.
Working knowledge of ETL processes that include data integration, data quality and data profiling.
Exposure to Data Modeling using industry standard ER tools.
Strong working knowledge of SQL Server Enterprise Databases and/or other relational databases.
Working knowledge of non-relational databases like MongoDB and other NoSQL databases.
Knowledge of Auditing Standards and SEC Filings a plus.
Exposure to the Accounting and Regulatory Industry a plus.
Knowledge of Agile Development practices.
