Oversees the preparation of job descriptions, job evaluation and salary surveys. Establishes salary structures, develops salary budgets, and prepares policies and procedures to insure the achievement of equitable and competitive employee compensation. Responsible for incentive, equity, and bonus plan design.  Responsible for executive compensation design and development of compensation committee and Board materials. Maintains a working knowledge of federal and state legislation influencing compensation and benefits. Monitors and evaluates the company's benefits programs including: insurance programs, retirement plans, PTO and leave policies. Ensures programs are current with regard to trends, practices and costs. Negotiates coverage services and costs with carriers. Oversees HRIS systems management and administration. May select

Develops corporate and/or organizational policies and authorizes their implementation. Detailed knowledge of company allows for innovative concepts and promoting new ideas. Provides direction to senior managers in various areas, groups, and/or operations. Consistently works with abstract ideas or situations across functional areas of the business. Identifies and evaluates fundamental issues, providing strategy and direction for major functional areas. Interacts internally and externally with executive level management, requiring negotiation of extremely critical matters and influences policymaking. Develops, implements, communicates and maintains all company compensation and benefits programs. Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements. Designs and oversees base pay, variable compensation, executive compensation, deferred compensation, retention program incentives and development of metrics. Establishes salary structures, develops salary budgets, prepares policies and procedures to ensure the achievement of equitable and competitive compensation programs. Provides expertise to the organization with regard to state and federal legislation concerning compensation and benefits. Ensures all compensation and benefits programs are legally compliant. Monitors and evaluates all health and welfare benefit programs, ensures programs are current to trend, practices, company philosophy and competitive environment. Actively identifies opportunities to improve productivity, control costs, and add value to all employee benefit programs. Designs executive compensation strategy understanding influences such as ISS, Glass Lewis and shareholder perception.  Works with external compensation consultants and compensation committee of the Board on executive compensation matters.  Develops and presents materials to compensation committee.  Works closely with legal to develop proxy materials. Manages HRIS systems administration and processes. Provides recommendations on systems enhancements, implementations and process improvements. May have responsibility for providing regular performance feedback, development and coaching to direct reports.

A Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related discipline is required. Professional certification such as SPHR, PHR, CCP or advanced degree is highly desired. Equivalent experience may be accepted. A minimum of 15 years compensation and benefits management experience is required. International compensation experience is required. A minimum of 12 years previous management experience is preferred. Previous experience working in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or medical device industry is preferred. Must be able to deliver work independently, have good judgment, and can analyze and strategize. A thorough knowledge and understanding of federal and state compensation and benefits laws and regulations is required. Must have HRIS implementation background and solid computer experience. Must be able to demonstrate an advanced business knowledge of management practices, e.g. Balanced Scorecard. Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills with an ability to exercise sound judgment. Must have a demonstrated track record of working with senior or executive level management on developing and implementing human resource initiatives. Must be able to work with a high attention to detail. Must have excellent oral and written communications skills with an ability to multitask.
