Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories PSS is searching for a Chemical Engineer in Rahway, NJ.

The Chemical Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Design, develop, and test approaches to improve containment (e.g., limiting potential operator exposure through equipment modification and engineering controls) for pilot plant scale pharmaceutical product development unit operations associated with long acting implants and respiratory products.  This work will involve direct interaction with equipment manufacturers, third party machine shops, as well as safety and industrial hygiene experts.
  • Assist in the development of robust pilot plant scale processes to produce long acting implants and respiratory products.
  • Assist in the development of process models used to understand and control the quality of pharmaceutical processes.
  • Provide support in the preparation of pharmaceutical products for stability studies and other analytical studies
  • Follow safe laboratory practices and maintaining the work area in a clean orderly and safe manner


The ideal candidate would possess:

  • A passion to contribute in the development of long acting implants and respiratory pharmaceutical products with a significant potential to impact global human health
  • A desire to develop complex pharmaceutical products and continuously learn
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
  • Experience with complex process equipment like powder feeders, twin screw extruders, single screw extruders, acoustic mixers.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience maintaining, designing, and/or operating machinery
  • Experience or knowledge related to process modeling and control
  • Experience with data acquisition systems associated with pilot scale process equipment
  • Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
  • Excellent organization to multi-task and manage multiple projects


Basic Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline and minimum of 1 year of experience as an engineer or working with complex equipment
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.


Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Rahway, NJ are encouraged to apply.
