Duties:  This position, under general supervision, executes procedures to ensure that all information systems, products, and services meet minimum organization standards and end-user requirements. The Associate Engineer will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help track and validate the implementation of products against functional and technical specifications and assist other members of the QA Team through careful testing.

  • Participates in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of QA test plans, test cases and test scripts used to ensure that software conforms to specification
  • Utilize test tools and review test execution to identify areas of concern in the software
  • Tests software to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects
  • Performs all aspects of black box software verification, including functional, regression, security, negative, load, high availability, and system integration testing
  • Documents all problems in manner that provides effective records for subsequent investigations by others
  • Performs troubleshooting and fault isolation, documenting findings, and contributing to resolution effort
  • Develops expertise in product functionality
  • Assists with complex workflow analysis and recommends quality improvements
  • Assists in change management activities for application tracking into CM controlled environments
  • Performs in a fast-paced environment where project deadlines are critical and multiple projects run in parallel
  • May act as client point-of-contact and team lead on projects
  • Requires occasional work outside of normal business hours

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 0-2 years of experience in the software development or software quality assurance fields
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Experience with QA methodology including test planning, test reporting, bug reporting/management, and overall product life cycle
  • Strong understanding of test case design, test execution, and issue resolution experience
  • Experience with issue-tracking software and with testing database-driven web applications
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, GIT, Python, Selenium, and HTML/CSS a plus
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent written and communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience using test automation/regression software
  • Understanding and exposure to the SEI CMMI and ISO 9001:2000 standards and requirements
  • ASQ Certified Software Quality Engineer or Certified Quality Auditor
  • Federal security clearances

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or equivalent work experience

Work Environment: This job operates in a well-lit and temperature-controlled office environment. In this role there will be use of standard office equipment such as phones, computers, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

An employee in this role must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time. This position requires constant operation of a computer. Employee must be able to frequently communicate and exchange accurate information. 

Compensation:  $45,000- $50,000; commensurate with experience
