Senior Dairy Specialist

The Dairy Specialist is responsible for the physical inspection of assigned relationships including wholesale dairy farms, livestock operations, farming operations, etc. plus budget preparation and/or analysis, and the subsequent reporting of the required inspection reports. The Dairy Specialist will also be responsible for the inspection and valuation of the operating assets as collateral, including livestock, feed inventories, equipment and crops.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or ten to twelve years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Basic familiarity and working knowledge of various software programs required for the valuation and budgeting functions as well as inspection reporting.

Other Skills and Abilities
Social and interactive skills plus ability to be self motivated and organized. Must be able to schedule accounts, complete the inspections and complete the required reporting within the time frame agreed upon by the Senior Agricultural Appraiser.
Livestock, crop and equipment valuation experience plus budget preparation and analysis experience. Must be able to drive 25% of the time and must be able to travel out-of-state via commercial flights.
