                ADULT CENTER

DEFINITION:  Under the supervision of the Center Director, the Health and Wellness Coordinator develops, plans and coordinates health, wellness, and nutrition programs for center participants.  This position works closely with the Center Program Coordinator to provide a rich and comprehensive schedule of programs and activities for older adults, with an emphasis on health and wellness, including, but not limited to, physical fitness, dancing, screenings, and health fairs.


            Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS in health education or related field with two years of experience or Associates Degree with 6 years of experience.

  • Prior experience conducting activities for geriatric population.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to relate to older persons

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills

  • Self- motivation and initiation.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities



  1. Develops and maintains an exciting schedule of day-to-day health, wellness, and nutrition programs, including evidence based and other programs made available through PCA’s health promotion program staff.

  2. Works with the center program coordinator, program planning committee, the center advisory council and PCA health promotion staff to develop, implement and evaluate new health, wellness, and nutrition programs which incorporate consumer feedback.

  3. Works with the center director and center program coordinator in establishing annual program goals.

  4. Assures that all program activities are properly recorded in the PCA client by client system.

  5. Identifies and coordinates with other organizations and community resources to enhance center health, wellness, and nutrition programs.

  6. Ensures program equipment and supplies are clean and well maintained; manages inventory of health, wellness, and nutrition program supplies.

  7. Plans special health, wellness, and nutrition events, such as trips, screenings, health fairs, and discussion groups.

  8. Oversees registration and fee collection process associated with center health, wellness, and nutrition activities

  9. Works with program coordinator to create and post monthly Center Activity calendar and Center Newsletter.

  10. Coordinates with staff of PCA sister center, Southwest Senior Center, to share identified health, wellness and nutrition resources and to organize joint programming as appropriate.

  11. Assists with center marketing and outreach efforts.

  12. Provides supervision for health, wellness, and nutrition program aide(s) and/or volunteer(s) in conjunction with the Center Director.

  13. Maintain CPR, First Aid and ServSafe Certifications.

  14. Other duties as assigned.
