MTEQ is a lead sensor system integrator focused on providing advanced sensor technology to address C5ISR mission requirements. MTEQ provides a broad range of technical support across two divisions. Our Technical Services Division provides research, development, analysis and field service support to advance the architecting and fielding of advanced sensor systems for ISR and Force Protection missions. Our System Division provide the engineering design, development of complete and integrated solutions from hardware to software for sensors,
systems and command and control architecture.
 
MTEQ is seeking a skilled Senior PCB Manufacturing Technician to assist in our Kilmarnock, VA location. The successful applicant will be responsible for assembly and verification of printed circuit board (PCBs) assemblies, ensuring that products are manufactured to customer’s specifications and quality standards.
The preferred candidate will have extensive experience in a PCB manufacturing and assembly, as well as a strong awareness of good safety practices, able to follow complex processes/procedures in an AS9100 Quality System and can operate assembly-process equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Operate with a high sense of urgency in Rapid Prototyping in PCB Technologies.
  • Able to plan and manage job assignments to the scheduled goals.
  • Able to read, understand and assemble a variety of products according to assembly procedures, drawings and bill-of-material, understand how to reference and comply withstandards in IPC-610 & J-Standard-001 manuals.
  • Able to perform manufacturing tasks using a variety of documentation from very limited engineering notes, formal work instructions and in some cases schematics.
  • MUST have experience with fine pitch SMT soldering
  • Able to identify and select/sort electronic components and sub-assemblies.
  • Do the prep work to install electronic components on PCBs (form and trim leads, solder prep, label/mark).
  • Assemble a wide variety of complex components onto circuit cards.
  • Perform hand-soldering, and able to learn to safely operate hand tools, soldering equipment, wave-solder and cleaning machines.
  • Run X-ray equipment and analyze results of BGA and other leadless devices findings
  • Operate AOI Inspection equipment and analyze results of soldering and assembly
  • Remove and re-install components using de-soldering/soldering tools.
  • Capable of precise assembly work requiring use of a high powered microscope.
  • Experienced with assembly and measuring tools, able to perform basic shop-floor math.
  • Maintain the assembly work stations in a neat and organized fashion, as well as to keep documentation complete and accurate.
  • Possess good written and oral communication skills.
  • Perform other duties, projects, responsibilities as assigned.
  • Comply with appropriate safety protocols and company policies at all times.

 DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of direct experience.
  • Excellent technical writing, documentation and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, in particular Excel.
  • Current IPC-610 & J-Standard -001 knowledge. Specific understanding of the Class 3 requirements in IPC standards.
  • Current best industry practices PCB Rework & Repair skills. 
  • Knowledge and certification to IPC 7711/7721 is not required but would be a big plus.

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • HS diploma/GED required.
  • 2-year (or more) Associates Degree in a Technical Field preferred.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and occasionally bend and move about the facility. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 25lbs.
