MTEQ is a lead sensor system integrator focused on providing advanced sensor technology to address C5ISR mission requirements. MTEQ provides a broad range of technical support across two divisions. Our Technical Services Division provides research, development, analysis and field service support to advance the architecting and fielding of advanced sensor systems for ISR and Force Protection missions. Our System Division provide the engineering design, development of complete and integrated solutions from hardware to software for sensors, systems and command and control architecture.

MTEQ is seeking a highly motivated individual with proven experience and skills successfully employing Agile and Scrum processes, procedures, methodologies and techniques to serve as an Associate Software Engineering Project Lead under MTEQ’s Software Project Engineering Lead. Such an individual will provide exceptional support to a wide variety of software and hardware integration efforts that utilize a team of multi-disciplined technologists (i.e. Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Software Engineers, Physicists, Mathematicians, System Engineers, Technicians, Assemblers, Analysts, Graphics Artists, Modelers) developing a wide variety of advanced sensor technology solutions.

Primary Responsibilities Include…

  • Actively lead Sprint plan development for assigned software engineering programs

  • Actively support task / activity tracking / roadblocks during sprints

  • Actively lead reassessing and reworking project sprint plans toward the end of each sprint and documenting sprint retrospectives

  • Actively lead the formulation and documentation of software requirements and sprint plans from system performance specifications

  • Actively lead the formulation, implementation, documentation and automation of project specific Epics, User Stories (Features), Tasks and Sprints within MTEQ’s JIRA Project Management System

  • Actively lead Product Backlog grooming sessions, Sprint planning and Scrum meetings

  • Actively co-lead the formulation, documentation and training of MTEQ’s software engineering processes, procedures, methodologies and release documentation in accordance with our ISO 9001:2015 procedures

  • Active stakeholder in MTEQ’s Software Engineering Process Improvement Tiger Team

  • Active stakeholder in the configuration management of software source code (using GitLab) and software release documentation (using SolidWorks PDM & SharePoint)

  • Actively manage, maintain and advance/mature MTEQ’s software engineering development resources (e.g., GitLab, JIRA, Confluence, Tuleap, IDEs) and computing environment

Candidates Must…

  • Have a strong and broad understanding of Agile and Scrum processes, procedures, methodologies and techniques

  • Work with and seek input/counsel/advice from MTEQ’s Director of Information, Software & Computing, Senior Software Architect & Software Project Engineering Lead on corporate Software Engineering Goals, Strategies, Initiatives and Policies/Procedures

  • Be flexible to work after hours, weekends and handle a shifting schedule as project needs arise

  • Have excellent customer service, time management and leadership skills in addition to excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance, therefore U.S. Citizenship is required

  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in an employee/customer environment

Required Skills:

  • Three-Five (3-5) years’ experience
    • Employing Agile and Scrum processes, procedures, methodologies and techniques for engineering-based projects
    • Formulating and documenting software requirements and sprint plans from system performance specifications
    • Developing software
  • Experience/expertise with various IDEs (e.g., Visual Studio, Eclipse, Emacs), code repository software (e.g., Subversion, git), software project management and collaboration solutions (e.g., JIRA, Confluence), and bug reporting/tracking tools (e.g., Bugzilla, Tuleap, Jira) and automated testing frameworks (e.g., GitLab, BuildBot & Jenkins)
  • B.S. in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or applicable engineering or science field

Desired Skills:

  • Scrum Master Certification and PMP
  • Three-Five (3-5) years’ experience employing CMMI Level 3 processes, procedures, methodologies and techniques for engineering-based projects
  • Hardware and software system integration experience/expertise
  • Cross platform (Linux, Windows) software development experience


Ability to obtain an active DOD Security Clearance REQUIRED. Active Clearance preferred.
