MTEQ is a lead sensor system integrator focused on providing advanced sensor technology to address C4ISR mission requirements. MTEQ provides a broad range of technical support across two divisions. Our Technical Services Division provides research, development, analysis and field service support to advance the architecting and fielding of advanced sensor systems for ISR and Force Protection missions. Our System Division provide the engineering design, development of complete and integrated solutions from hardware to software for sensors, systems and command and control architecture.

MTEQ is seeking a highly motivated individual with proven experience and skills successfully managing and employing industry leading software engineering and CM (Configuration Management) tools/applications in the development of R&D (Research & Development) and/or prototype scientific & engineering software (i.e., NOT web based or business-related software) to serve as the Software Engineering DevOps & CM Lead under MTEQ’s Director of Information Software and Computing. Such an individual will provide exceptional support to a wide variety of software and hardware integration efforts that utilize a team of multi-disciplined technologists (i.e. Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Software Engineers, Physicists, Mathematicians, System Engineers, Technicians, Assemblers, Analysts, Graphics Artists, Modelers) developing a wide variety of advanced sensor technology programs.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively manage, maintain and advance/mature MTEQ’s software engineering development resources (e.g., GitLab, Tuleap, Jira, Jenkins, Artifactory, IDEs) and computing environment
  • Actively lead the configuration management of software source code (using GitLab & GitFlow) and software release documentation (using SolidWorks PDM & SharePoint)
  • Actively lead the formulation, documentation and training of MTEQ’s software engineering processes, procedures, methodologies and release documentation in accordance with our ISO 9001:2015 procedures
  • Actively lead MTEQ’s Software Engineering Process Improvement Tiger Team
  • Support Sprint plan development for all MTEQ’s software engineering efforts
  • Support task / activity tracking during sprints
  • Support reassessing and reworking project sprint plans toward the end of each sprint and documenting sprint retrospectives
  • Support the formulation and documentation of software requirements and sprint plans from system performance specifications
  • Support the formulation, implementation, documentation and automation of project specific Epics, User Stories (Features), Tasks and Sprints within MTEQ’s Tuleap Project Management System
  • Participate in routine Scrum meetings
  • Support software engineering aspects of proposals


Required Skills:

  • Have a strong and broad understanding of Agile and Scrum processes, procedures, methodologies and techniques
  • Be an active participant in the architecting and deployment of solutions for corporate software engineering Goals, Strategies, Initiatives and Policies/Procedures
  • Adhere to MOPs (Measures of Performance) defined by MTEQ’s Director of Information, Software & Computing  (e.g., implementation dates for corporate initiatives, ISO 9001:2015 adherence, training of software engineering procedures)
  • Work with and seek input/counsel/advice from MTEQ’s Director of Information, Software & Computing & Senior Software Architect on corporate Software Engineering Goals, Strategies, Initiatives and Policies/Procedures
  • Be flexible to work after hours, weekends and handle a shifting schedule as project needs arise
  • Have excellent customer service, time management and leadership skills in addition to excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance, therefore U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in an employee/customer environment


Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Five-Ten (5-10) years’ experience
    • Managing and employing industry leading software engineering and CM (Configuration Management) tools/applications in the development of R&D and/or prototype scientific & engineering software
    • Training software engineers in the effective use of these tools/applications
    • Supporting the development of R&D and/or prototype scientific & engineering software
  • Experience/expertise with various IDEs (e.g., Visual Studio, Eclipse, Emacs), code repository software (e.g., Subversion, git), software project management and collaboration solutions (e.g., Redmine, Trac, & JIRA), and bug reporting/tracking tools (e.g., Bugzilla, Tuleap) and automated testing frameworks (e.g., BuildBot & Jenkins)
  • Experience/expertise in Continuous Integration (CI) & Continuous Development (CD)
  • B.S. in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or applicable engineering or science field


Desired Skills

  • Scrum Master Certification
  • Three-Five (3-5) years’ experience employing CMMI Level 3 processes, procedures, methodologies and techniques for engineering-based projects
  • Hardware and software system integration experience/expertise
  • Cross platform (Linux, Windows) software development experience
  • Experience employing industry accepted programming constructs/practices (e.g., MVC [Model/View/Controller], thread pools, abstract class implementations, unit testing, concurrency)
  • Experience with various programming and scripting languages (e.g., C, C++, C#/.NET, Python)
  • Experience employing complex data types (e.g., queues, stacks, maps, dictionaries, lists, vectors, iterators, sets)
