MTEQ is a lead sensor system integrator focused on providing advanced sensor technology to address C4ISR mission requirements. MTEQ provides a broad range of technical support across two divisions. Our Technical Services Division provides research, development, analysis and field service support to advance the architecting and fielding of advanced sensor systems for ISR and Force Protection missions. Our System Division provides the engineering design, development of complete and integrated solutions from hardware to software for sensors, systems and command and control architecture.

MTEQ  is seeking a Welder with extensive knowledge and strong communication skills to join our team of well qualified, diverse individuals at our Fort Belvoir, VA Office.  The ideal candidate would be a skilled welder to perform welding, fabrication, and assembly at our facilities or project sites. The candidate will perform all aspects of welding and fabrication within a machine shop environment, including selection of weld processes and materials, design and construction of fixturing, measurement and cutting of stock, parts preparation, and welding operations.  These items may include small piece parts up to vehicle-mounted assemblies, utilizing processes such as MIG and TIG, and requiring varying degrees of precision.

This welder must be familiar with commercial AWS processes and specifications, be knowledgeable of metals and materials, and able to apply basic mechanics and mathematics.  The candidate must also be knowledgeable of and adhere to all applicable safety standards. 


  • Read blueprints, drawings, and weld procedures and take or read measurements to plan layout and processes
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws and hand tools to required dimensions)
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
  • Design and build fixturing for alignment and clamping of components during welding
  • Use basic measuring tools such as calipers, rulers, etc. for assembly and verification of pieces
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
  • Repair machinery and other components by joining pieces, filling gaps, and surface build-up
  • Inspect welded parts and structures to discover flaws
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair of welding equipment


  • Professional experience as a welder
  • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MIG, etc.) on multiple materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
  • Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, grinders, squares, calipers etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
  • Knowledge of relevant safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
  • Proficient in English
  • Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is preferred


  • Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) 

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Ability to obtain a security clearance; active clearance a plus
