MTEQ is a lead sensor system integrator focused on providing advanced sensor technology to address C4ISR mission requirements. MTEQ provides a broad range of technical support across two divisions. Our Technical Services Division provides research, development, analysis and field service support to advance the architecting and fielding of advanced sensor systems for ISR and Force Protection missions. Our System Division provide the engineering design, development of complete and integrated solutions from hardware to software for sensors, systems and command and control architecture.

 

MTEQ is seeking an Electronics Engineer II with a foundation in electrical engineering and an aptitude for rapid acquisition of knowledge and skills to join our team of well qualified, diverse individuals at our Lorton, VA office.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

The Electrical Engineer II role supports our experienced engineering staff in the design and development of EO/IR Sensor Systems and Embedded Electronics/Computing Systems for military applications. The selected candidate will work with a dynamic team of Electrical, Electronic and Firmware Engineers in the prototype development and transition/fielding of leading edge technologies supporting MTEQ’s military customer base. The candidate will work in a fast-paced R&D environment, utilizing sophisticated technologies to support the rapid development of prototype systems for military, federal and commercial projects primarily involving EO/IR Sensor Systems, but also including Radar and other sensing modalities. The candidate will participate in the design, development and testing of these systems, alongside leading experts in their field as part of a multi-disciplinary development team.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge and skills in Electrical and Electronic design methods.

  • Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings, documents, and procedures.

  • Create preliminary concepts and schematics for custom electronics designs.

  • Select electronic components new designs.

  • Build schematic parts and component footprints.

  • Conduct and participate in design reviews.

  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to develop new hardware designs.

  • Perform initial power up and evaluation of prototype electronics hardware.

  • Familiarity with equipment and methodology for testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics of electrical and electronic equipment and systems.

 

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Competence in Altium Designer or similar electronic CAD software packages.

  • Design and development of custom electronics hardware targeting FPGAs, SoCs, and microcontrollers.

  • Interface with Camera Link, GigE Vision, and CoaxPress cameras and framegrabbers.

  • Experience in the specification, design, and development of custom circuit card assemblies to realize needed system interfaces and capabilities.

  • Familiarity with designing and developing custom wire harness assemblies, especially wiring for rugged and high reliability applications.

  • New product design and development engineering.

  • Use of imaging sensors and systems.

  • Embedded form-factor computing hardware.

  • Strong attention to detail and independent work ethic.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline.

  • Minimum of 3 years related experience.

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Ability to obtain Security Clearance required.  Active Security Clearance a plus
