In this position …

  • Search Managers are responsible for day to day management of a client account, client related deliverables and client communication.  Search Managers will not only be responsible for overseeing the Senior Associates and Associates on their accounts, but may also be assigned to assist with training others on search roles and responsibilities and processes. The Search Manager reports to the next most senior person on the account team.


  • The Search Manager should be able to manage an account of any size, type or complexity with responsibilities including the following:


The Responsibilities

  • Plan Development and Maintenance
  • Assist Director with all aspects of search plan development and recommendations
  • Mastery of Tier I engine UIs and capabilities, relevant SEM management platforms and strong knowledge of Tier II vendors and capabilities
  • Become an “expert” on non-traditional search opportunities including: local search, social search, video search, online directory search and more
  • Maintain a deep understanding of client business goals and marketing objectives, translating them into digital objectives/strategies
  • Demonstrate full understanding of Client’s businesses as basis for all future work
  • Prepare and present strategic media recommendations to client and agency management, including objectives, strategy, rationale, and all backup materials
  • Provides analysis and projections to support recommendations
  • Seek, investigate and actively pursue innovative opportunities, providing client with strategic points-of- view
  • Design and implement or oversee implementation of single and multi-variant tests to increase campaign efficiency
  • Develop innovative ways to present the group’s work
  • Supervise the implementation of all search campaigns
  • Oversee partnerships with search engines and other related vendors
  • Keep abreast of current events, search/digital media trends and any target market industry trends that impact business
  • Master fundamental search tactics and completion of Google GAP certification and AdCenter Accreditation programs
  • Expert in search optimization
  • Ensure integration & coordination between search and planning teams
  • Team Management and Leadership
    • Lead Senior Associate in setting search strategies, and developing appropriate media plans
    • Delegate work effectively so as to not only teach direct reports, but to also deliver seamless work to client
    • Work with Senior Associate to fulfill set client strategies by creating deliverables and specific recommendations - Including account structure and implementation, optimizations, conditional testing, tracking, and overall management
    • Supervise, guide and counsel Senior Associate(s) and/or Associate(s) on all day-to-day activities and ensure that all processes are followed
    • Train search staff in media and marketing disciplines as well as the specifics of the client’s business and industry
    • Encourage and support staff attendance in various search media training programs
    • Manage group dynamics between Senior Associate(s) and/or Associate(s)
    • Accurately, objectively and constructively evaluate performance of Senior Associate(s) and/or Associate(s) via talent development process
    • Check for accuracy, timeliness and quality of all media group outputs
    • Assist in interviewing, hiring, training, mentoring, developing, and evaluating team members


  • Account Management
  • Keep media and agency partners updated and informed on status of all account projects
  • Knowledge of the nuances of all clients/accounts/campaigns managed by junior members of team and maintain accountability for them
  • Initiate appropriate cross-functional client meetings
  • Leads campaign financials (budgets/billing)
  • Lead in Client / Agency calls as the day-to-day product group representative from the search account team
  • Manage solid relationships across agency and search media partners in order to ensure brand understanding, more effectively sell ideas, and contribute to positive Agency evaluations


Our Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of related search media planning experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in advertising, marketing, business administration, and/or communications preferred
  • Possess and demonstrate excellent understanding of media fundamentals, including media math and communication goals
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency with systems/tools
  • Strong quantitative skills, including analytical abilities and math proficiency
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and effective problem solving skills
  • Ability to work within and effectively manage a team, prioritizing and organizing multiple assignments for both self and team direct reports
  • Adherence to tight deadlines while delivering flawless work
  • Extremely detail-oriented, with clear and proven organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Show ability in training and leadership capability
  • Exude an energy level that brings new and exciting ideas to the planning function and motivates teammates
  • Exhibit passion through appropriate participation in team, agency, and industry initiatives

  • Search/Digitally savvy, with specific proficiency at MS Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint
