ERM is seeking an Environmental Impact Assessment Senior Consultant in Sudbury, Ontario to support and grow our growing domestic market in Canada, specifically in Northern Ontario.  In this role, you will focus on supporting clients in the mining sector in executing engineering studies to develop major capital projects in Northern Ontario. This position will include leading the design and implementation of environmental baseline studies, and supporting environmental assessment and permitting processes for mining projects as part of an integrated project team.  This position will include the opportunity to work directly as a member of our Client teams studying potential capital investment options.   • Coordination of the various studies and work streams being conducted for the environmental aspects of the Engineering Studies (pre-feasibility and feasibility) for capital projects as part of the Client Project team.
  • Review of previous work completed on Capital Projects and identification of the scope of work in coordination with Client Project Teams to establish a work plan for the environmental aspects of the Engineering Studies. 
  • Develop environmental and permitting work plans including budgets and schedules to support the environmental approvals and permitting process for capital projects,
  • Provide subject matter review of reports and deliverables submitted to Client Project teams.
  • Integration of environmental considerations into Engineering Studies based on professional expertise and the findings from the various environmental studies that may be conducted.
  • Author the environmental and permitting section of Engineering Study Reports.



  • BS/MS in environmental studies, planning, geography, civil or environmental engineering or related field; PE, CEP, AICP or similar registration desired.
  • 5 to10 years of impact assessment and multi-media permitting experience, including consulting for private-sector clients.
  • High degree of technical competence and broad knowledge of impact assessment best practices, with a solid grasp of the key impact assessment and management issues within the mining sector.
  • Well-developed teambuilding and influencing skills; unquestioned integrity; and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address client and business needs and challenges
  • Solid experience building sustaining relationships with major clients.
  • Excellent writing, communication, presentation, strategic thinking, and “people” skills.
  • Recognized technical expertise by and established reputation in the local marketplace, including positive reputation with key regulators relevant to impact assessment approvals.
