Description

Our New Jersey office has an immediate need for a Water Treatment System Operator. This position will support our client sites in Central New Jersey. Position responsibilities include operation, maintenance and oversight of wastewater and groundwater extraction and treatment systems.

Job Expectations:

  • System maintenance
  • Optimizing extraction systems/pumps
  • Collecting of groundwater, surface water, soil, sediment and gas samples
  • Water level measurements
  • Field testing and tasks for treatability studies and construction projects under supervision of engineers and scientists
  • Task/project management and client/subcontractor communication
  • Inventory maintenance, repair and calibration of field equipment and supplies
  • Computer data entry of operations data, water level data, laboratory data
  • Providing other technical assistance as assigned

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • One to three years' experience in a related position 
  • Must be mechanically inclined and have working knowledge of basic construction tools.
  • Must have general understanding of environmental management concepts
  • Must be organized, reliable, able to learn new technical concepts, work independently and to work well with others
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Must be willing to travel frequently and to work in a rigorous field setting
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Ability to walk slowly around sites of varying size that may have areas of uneven, muddy, and/or rocky ground to perform inspections and take photographs.
  • Ability to work for short periods of time in extreme temperatures including heat and cold.
  • Ability to wear required safety equipment at sites including hard hats, steel toed boots (or other approved toe protection), etc.
  • Ability to stand for several hours observing and documenting
  • Ability to remain alert and vigilant while working around equipment and be able to walk swiftly for a short distance to clear an area where a potential hazard is identified.
  • Ability to climb stairs (2-3 flights) or ladders (up to 24 foot typically) to access structures for visual inspection.
  • Ability to lift objects on job sites less than 50 pounds
  • Position may require enrollment in a random drug testing program
