Brown and Caldwell, a nationwide environmental engineering and construction firm, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Developer, BI in the Denver, CO office. Job Expectations:

  • Designs, developments, enhances, and maintains BI and data solutions to deliver better information and analytics.
  • Performs a Technical Lead role on assigned projects and ensures compliance with Project Management methodologies.
  • Follows and implements long-term data management processes including data lifecycle management, data quality, integration processes, and master data management.
  • Maintains an understanding of current technologies, their trends, business strategies and capabilities, and their implications on the current environment.  Uses this information to recommend improvements and changes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creates data integration, data models, queries, reports, and dashboards to help answer business questions.
  • Collaborates closely with the business to review, facilitate, and gain buy-in for requirements and solution options (including functional, process, security, integration, performance, quality, and operations requirements).
  • Identifies trends within data and assists users to analyze and interpret data.
  • Leads and facilitates metric management and information governance processes with the business.
  • Produces and provides feedback for architectural/design deliverables, project estimations, functional requirements, technical specifications, unit test scripts, system/data flows, project/implementation plans, training materials, etc.
  • Provides on-going support for production applications and assists with application maintenance by monitoring and correcting software defects.  Enhances existing software by analyzing and identifying areas for optimization.

Desired Skills and Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of Business Intelligence experience
  • Strong skills and experience with:
  • Data Integration with SSIS
  • Microsoft SQL Server including SSAS and SSRS
  • Transact-SQL
  • Front-end report and dashboard development in a common business intelligence tool
  • Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and data connections
  • Hands on experience with Data Architecture, Data Warehouses, Data Marts, Data Modeling, OLAP, Tuning, and Data Profiling
  • Preferred skills and experience with:
  • Multi-dimensional and Tabular SSAS models
  • Azure cloud implementations
  • Azure Data Factory
  • Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
  • Ability to understand highly complex business rules specific to BC systems and troubleshoot problems and analyze data as it applies to those complex business rules.
  • Ability to self-organize, prioritize, and operate effectively without significant day-to-day oversight.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with stakeholders and team members.
  • Strong customer service focus and skills
  • Experienced and comfortable working in a fast paced, ambiguous, and event driven environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related field of study.
