We're looking for a Principal Engineer in the San Francisco Bay Area (Walnut Creek, San Jose, San Francisco offices), to manage and execute large infrastructure projects for Northern California municipal and private sector clients. In addition, candidate will have a significant role in business development. Responsibilities include civil/mechanical engineering and project management for a variety of projects to provide planning, evaluation, design and construction related activities for water, wastewater, and storm water conveyance systems, pumping systems and related facilities. In this role, you will delegate project work to subordinate engineers and supervise their work and will provide consultation in specialized areas.

Job Expectations:

You will already have established your consulting career and have a good understanding of client and project management and business development, particularly within the municipal sector. In addition, the candidate will serve as a Client Service Manager (CSM) for select Northern California clients. Characteristics of the CSM include the proven ability to generate and sustain significant sales and revenue from environmental and engineering projects in the local and national marketplace, as applicable.

You will be expected to:

  • Provide oversight of collaborative teams across multiple engineering disciplines to develop and deliver solutions for our clients.
  • Collaborate with client service teams on win strategies for infrastructure assessment, planning, design, and implementation projects.
  • Mentor, lead and grow the successful and highly collaborative Infrastructure Group
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to clients and for professional meetings.
  • Provide senior management, technical guidance, and risk management oversight on projects
  • Develop proposals and presentations including project understanding and approaches, and level of effort estimates.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with a team of BC employees to ensure our service delivery and marketing address client critical success factors and BC quality standards and maximize client revenue potential.  This includes maintaining and implementing client strategic and tactical action plans to position for future work.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • B.S. degree required, in related engineering field (Civil, Mechanical)
  • Minimum of 15+ years of progressively increasing responsibility in related experience.
  • Professional registered engineer with the ability to obtain profession engineer registration in the state of California within 6 months.
  • Demonstrated strong project management skills.
  • Successful marketing, proposal writing, proposal management, and public presentations experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and written report preparation.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
