We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to join our growing team. Electrical/I&C design services and industrial automation are some of the fastest growing markets in the Water industry and represent a significant growth area for Brown and Caldwell.  Through our Client’s drive for increased efficiencies in their operations, our opportunities in the planning, design, and delivery of projects has become significant.   Under the umbrella of one of the fastest growing groups at Brown and Caldwell, the Electrical and Process Automation Services (EPAS) group, you be the Electrical National Discipline Leader and collaborate with other National Discipline Leaders of the Design Services Enterprise with a focus to deliver market-leading solutions of high quality and design efficiency to our Clients across the country. In this role, you will lead the Electrical Discipline including electrical engineers, designers, and inspectors nationwide. Job Expectations:

For the right candidate, this position offers the opportunity to be the leader of a national growing team to deliver design and other services to our clients, support business development efforts, manage projects, and collaborate with BC’s national team leaders. The candidate will have a broad range of responsibilities, which include building the Electrical Discipline, developing relationships with new clients, recruiting new staff, and overseeing Electrical related projects.  Your goals in this role will include increasing market share, driving profitable growth, group leadership, project management, client service management, business development and marketing in coordination with our national sales teams. We are looking for candidates who are visionary and strategic thinkers that have a passion for building things, meeting new people, and desire to work with seasoned professionals who perform industrial and municipal projects within the water/wastewater field.  Success in this position is predicated upon your ability to be a strong leader and effective communicator.


Primary responsibilities include:

  • National Discipline Leader for the Electrical discipline.
  • Work in coordination with other National Discipline Leaders as a member of the Design Services Enterprise leadership team.
  • Set strategic direction and expand upon the established vision for the Electrical Discipline under the EPAS umbrella.
  • Manage growth in-line with company goals and utilization expectations (right hires at the right time)
  • Serve as a client service manager, project manager, or task manager on internal or external projects
  • Develop business opportunities and support others in developing business opportunities by actively participating in sales and marketing efforts (proposal preparation, interviewing, scope, fee, etc.) for top company pursuits
  • Mentor staff with the potential to develop their professional skills to be client service managers, project managers, and future leaders
  • Producing effective and accurate written documents, reports, and technical memorandums
  • Collaborate with a national team of technical experts in a multidiscipline environment to develop competitive designs and implementations for new facilities, expansion, upgrades and retrofits.


Position Requirements

  • BS Engineering degree in the electrical discipline or related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer with ability to acquire licensing within every state within one year as needed.
  • Minimum of 18 years’ experience working for government, municipal, and/or industrial water and wastewater industries.
  • Experience in leading large teams with the desire to expand to lead national design teams.
  • Successful candidates will have direct experience implementing engineering design projects, marketing and sales generation of electrical services to municipal and industrial customers with demonstrated capability to present a professional image to clients and the public.
  • Experience managing project teams performing electrical services and demonstrate the level of decisiveness and directness needed to effectively lead professional and technical staff toward completion of project and company goals.
  • Effective oral and written communication with the social skills necessary to genuinely motivate and direct the staff to produce high quality work, to maintain high individual and group morale
  • Be enthusiastic, self-motivated, and work independently with a willingness to learn
  • Candidate should be a self-starter, results-oriented and be able to work under tight and pressured deadlines
  • Ability to travel to team/project/client locations as needed.  Travel requirements are anticipated to be an average of 25% of the time.
