Our Design Services, National Mechanical Discipline is currently seeking a Senior Process Mechanical Engineer with proven strength in process mechanical engineering design and coordination/management as it pertains to municipal plant design (equipment, piping and controls/operations) for the water industry (wastewater, reclaimed, and drinking water).

Job Expectations

In this role you will utilize your consulting expertise to manage and execute work on projects and to help ensure successful client relationships.  In addition, it is anticipated that you will also participate in the mentoring and career development of our junior engineering staff along with business development opportunities as a pursuit team technical expert on an as needed basis.  You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with highly experienced technical experts and other leaders from the BC team.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Manage and execute work for wastewater and water utilities including treatment plant, pumping station, and solids handling facility planning and design and including production of drawings and technical specifications utilizing proper quality assurance and quality control practices.
  • Perform technical research, and be able to communicate and apply this knowledge.
  • Lead project teams in planning and/or designing engineering projects and coordinate special planning, economic, and engineering studies.
  • Provide consultation in specialized areas related to efficient design management for treatment plant, pumping station, and solids handling facilities. Make decisions and solve problems.
  • Participate in improving company resources and tools to improve design production, quality, and efficiency.
  • Support presentations to clients for project technical meetings.
  • Direct the work of drafters and designers and drive proactive coordination with other disciplines.
  • Supervise, delegate and oversee the work of technical staff and engineers.
  • Assist with and support construction related office engineering activities.
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers and designers.

Position Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Civil/Environmental Engineering; M.S. preferred
  • 15 years of experience in municipal engineering and consulting preferred.
  • Experience should include: Wastewater plant design, piping design, aeration systems design, familiarity with biological process design, fluid dynamics and pumping systems, and ability to research equipment and technologies.  Experience in water treatment, industrial wastewater treatment, thermal processing equipment, power generation is a plus but not required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License: Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, or Chemical preferred.
  • Strong project coordination/management skills desired.
  • Successful technical writing skills desired.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare effective written reports and documents.
