We have an exciting opportunity for an instrumentation and controls (I&C) lead who programs HMIs and PLCs to join our growing team to deliver automation control system projects. Job Expectations:

For the right candidate, this position offers the opportunity for significant professional growth and the potential to collaborate with local and national teams. In this role, your responsibilities will include developing industrial automation programming solutions for HMIs and PLCs, supporting equipment setup and field support during construction, and conducting control system startups for industrial and municipal projects. This candidate will have the opportunity to practice or develop the skills as an I&C technician providing instrumentation and controls designs (specifications, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs). We are looking for candidates who have a passion to learn new things. The role requires the ability to integrate and apply Brown and Caldwell’s service offerings and talent to help our clients solve their most challenging issues. Primary responsibilities include:

 

  • Develop, modify/improve, test, and startup PLC and HMI automation projects for industrial projects for municipal, industrial, and federal clients
  • Perform submittal reviews from contractors and other system integrator developed automation programming acting as owner’s advisor
  • Troubleshoot automation programs for industrial projects for municipal, industrial, and federal clients
  • Develop design skills to prepare P&IDs, wiring schematics, network and control system architecture designs
  • Work under general supervision and problem solve somewhat independently
  • Work and communicate effectively with other disciplines, task leaders, and project managers
  • Produce effective and accurate written documents, reports, and technical memorandums
  • Perform in technical role for value engineering and QA/QC or review of sub-consultant work

              

Position Requirements:

  • Post high school education or trade school required as a minimum
  • Post high school education or trade school curriculum to include electronics, electricity, solid state, motor controls, and industrial computing subjects
  • Minimum of 10 years of industrial automation programming or I&C technician related work experience
  • Experience in industrial process automation systems design, Fieldbus technologies, instrumentation installation, and Ethernet fiber and copper network design is a plus.
  • Travel overnight away from the home office is anticipated from time to time given the nature of the programming responsibilities
  • Comfortable and effective with clients and contractors as direct interface
