Our Walnut Creek office is looking for a Principal Engineer to help execute wastewater projects for Northern California municipal as well as National clients. In addition, candidate will have a significant role in business development.  When you join Brown and Caldwell, you will enjoy a unique and welcoming culture. Job Expectations:

Responsibilities include environmental engineering for a variety of projects to provide planning, evaluation, design and construction related activities for wastewater treatment facilities. In this role you will delegate project work to subordinate engineers and supervise their work and will provide consultation in specialized areas. In addition, the candidate will serve as a Client Service Manager (CSM) for select Northern California clients. Characteristics of the CSM include the proven ability to generate and sustain significant sales and revenue from environmental and engineering projects in the local and national marketplace, as applicable. The appropriate utilization target will depend on booked new business achievement.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Execute activities on projects for master planning and design of wastewater systems.
  • Provide successful management of small to large projects that meet or exceed the project success metrics.
  • Analysis, calculations, research, selection, and layout, necessary to develop required new installation and rehabilitation design documents.
  • Oversee and direct the work of junior level engineers assigned to projects.
  • Technical and quality control review of study, planning and design documents.
  • Coordinate with project managers, client service managers, and other project personnel from other disciplines.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to clients and for professional meetings.
  • Develop proposals and presentations including project understanding and approaches, and level of effort estimates.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with a team of BC employees to ensure our service delivery and marketing address client critical success factors and BC quality standards and maximize client revenue potential.  This includes maintaining and implementing client strategic and tactical action plans to position for future work.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • B.S. degree required, in related engineering field (Civil, Chemical). M.S. is preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressively increasing responsibility in related experience.
  • Professional registered engineer in California. Registations in other states is a plus.
  • Demonstrated strong technical skills.
  • Successful marketing, proposal writing, proposal management, and public presentations experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and written report preparation.
