Brown and Caldwell (BC) has an opportunity for a senior level engineer with experience managing and executing work involving utility infrastructure projects for the water industry (water and wastewater).  You will have an essential role in our Pacific Northwest Area infrastructure business and client connections, based in our Portland, Oregon office.  In collaboration with the local Portland office leader, Client Service Managers, Technical Service Leaders, and the Marketing Manager, you will maintain and develop client relationships, connect BC solutions to client needs and lead an infrastructure group in quality project delivery.

The Pacific Northwest region is a thriving/growing area demanding sustainable and innovative solutions as well as effective collaboration with our clients, internal staff and teaming partners.  This is a strategic position for someone who takes pride in delivering exceptional client service and making meaningful contributions to protecting and enhancing our environment.

Job Expectations:

  • Win, manage and effectively execute work on wastewater and water utility projects
  • Perform technical research and communicate and apply this knowledge
  • Lead project team in planning and/or designing major engineering projects and coordinate planning, economic, and engineering studies
  • Provide consultation related to efficient pipeline condition assessment and rehabilitation.
  • Prepare and make presentations to clients and for professional meetings
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers
  • Direct the work of engineers and technical staff
  • Assist with and lead business development pursuits

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • B.S. degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering or related field required; M.S. preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in municipal engineering and consulting 
  • Preferred experience areas should include: pipeline condition assessment and rehabilitation/replacement design, water/wastewater master planning including inflow/infiltration studies, water/wastewater pipeline, pumping and storage design 
  • Experience with storage, pumping systems, or seismic resilience planning and design is a plus
  • Strong project management skills required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Successful marketing, proposal writing, proposal management, and public presentations experience
  • Previous supervisory experience

 

Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and prepare written reports and documents required
