Are you an individual who can effectively manage others and who takes pride in delivering exceptional work?  We are currently seeking a managing engineer with leadership skills and strong project management experience to lead teams and projects in our Milwaukee, Wisconsin office.

Job Expectations:

We are seeking an engineer with experience managing others and successfully delivering work involving environmental engineering projects for the water and wastewater industry. In this role, you will utilize your consulting expertise to manage and execute work on projects and to help ensure successful client relationships, while developing new key clients in connection with planned targets.  You will work closely with the Midwest Area Leader, other leaders and technical experts in the Milwaukee office, Midwest Area, and Company as a whole to help lead the development and execution of the Midwest business plan and meet company objectives including growth, profitability, and diversification targets. Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Manage a portfolio of projects for municipal and private industry clients
  • Pursue and secure project work for our Milwaukee office and other Company stakeholders
  • Supervise, delegate, and oversee the work of technical staff and engineers
  • Help mentor, and provide direction for less experienced staff
  • Manage and execute planning and design work for the wastewater, water, and stormwater industry
  • Lead project teams and provide consultation services in such planning and/or design projects, make decisions and solve problems
  • Prepare and make presentations to clients
  • Successfully manage and deliver projects on time and on budget
  • Utilize internal project management and risk management tools and resources
  • Assist with business development functions and pursuits
  • Confidently move into office lead position

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience or interest in leading project teams and staff
  • B.S. degree in related engineering field (Civil, Environmental etc.)
  • M.S. degree in related environmental engineering field with a focus on services around the water cycle, strongly preferred
  • Expertise in sewer system evaluation/design and municipal wastewater treatment planning/design a plus
  • Minimum of 15 years’ of progressively increasing responsibility
  • PE in Wisconsin
  • Strong project management skills
  • Successful marketing, proposal writing, proposal management, and public presentations experience a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and written report preparation
  • Previous supervisory or mentoring experience required
