We have an exciting opportunity in our Industrial Water group for a managing engineer who is a project management oriented seller-doer to join our firm. The person in this role will be a key team member in growing BC’s industrial water business. In this capacity, you will have responsibilities that include client service management, project management, and business development.

Job Expectations:

In this capacity, we are looking for someone who can identify and commit to achievable and sustainable goals for growth in alignment with the company’s strategic plan. In particular, this role is expected to contribute to growth of industrial water services both geographically and firm-wide. You will plan, develop, coordinate, and direct a range of industrial water projects from small consulting through small preliminary engineering or a project of major scope, with full responsibility for end results while mentoring staff to deliver industrial water projects.

Additional responsibilities to include:

  • Develops working relationships in the external market to assist in identifying new business opportunities and strategic pursuits.
  • Leverages across the company for marketing, project delivery, project teams and other support systems.
  • Ensures quality client services, and clarity of work products and projects while promoting and integrating companywide initiatives and values.
  • Promotes companywide initiatives and values.
  • Participates in base business growth, sales and capital planning process for the company.
  • Focuses on investment decisions, using capital and resources to the highest competitive advantage.
  • Promotes and supports technical systems and improvements driven by company initiatives.
  • Manages and directs staff members while performing staff evaluations and outlining growth and development goals.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • BS degree in civil, chemical, or environmental engineering or related field is required. MS preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industrial water and wastewater treatment principles.
  • Professional registration is preferred.
  • A minimum of 12 years’ experience, most of which must be in business development and project management roles in consulting or a related industry.
  • Must be well-connected with private decision makers in the Southwest US market.
  • Must have a proven record of working with existing clients and developing new clients and projects with ability to deliver those projects successfully, profitably, and to the client’s satisfaction.
  • Successful track record of selling and delivering industrial wastewater treatment alternatives evaluations, bench and pilot-scale treatability studies, troubleshooting wastewater treatment plant operations, development of conceptual engineering packages, and leading engineering design projects highly desirable.
  • Ability to discern new markets and to develop business in those areas.
  • Ability to connect with decision makers in surrounding markets.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client and personal services. This includes client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of client satisfaction.
