Our Design Services Group has an opportunity for a Portfolio Design Manager with experience in infrastructure, water, or wastewater projects. This position will support our Southern California area and in this key role you will help to grow area and will work on a key projects for BC and the local area.

The Portfolio Design Manager will be responsible for leading/facilitating multidisciplinary design projects and coordinating the design projects in the geography. This coordination will encompass the following:

  • Lead the design teams, including design managers/project engineers to build quality into design documents
  • Work with the area leaders, project managers, local staff and client service teams to identify and mitigate project and business risk
  • Work with local Client Service Teams and Project Managers in scoping and pricing large projects
  • Lead and support Regional/Enterprise Pursuits, as needed
  • Identify projects requiring additional attention and resources and work with the BC enterprise to fill the needs
  • Participate in Area/business unit Leadership Teams as appropriate

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Design Management experience on multidisciplinary design projects
  • CA PE Required (Civil, Mechanical)
  • Hands-on understanding of multidisciplinary design
  • Decisiveness (the ability to take input and make a decision in a timely manner)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills (comfort dealing directly with clients)
  • Experience working on water, wastewater or infrastructure design projects
  • 15+ years of experience
  • BS degree in Civil, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • Experience with local clients a plus but not required
  • Relocation to one of our three Southern California offices is available.
