Our Northeast Area currently has an exciting opportunity available for a self-motivated Senior Engineer to join our Civil Design Discipline.  This is a great opportunity to work in a growth-oriented professional consulting office.  The successful candidate will work on various projects for municipal, industrial, and federal clients. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative, multi-discipline environment to develop innovative, cost effective designs for new facilities, expansions, upgrades and retrofits.

In this position you will work on 3D, multi-discipline designs for facilities primarily serving the water and wastewater industries utilizing Autodesk software (AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D).  You will be responsible for providing support and / or leading the civil design effort on small to large projects working directly with engineers and other design staff; and collaborating with our structural, mechanical, process and electrical engineers and designers on those designs; and be mentored by strong, nationally recognized, senior technical staff. Projects include both conventional design/bid/build and alternative delivery such as design/build.

You will be responsible for working effectively with local and remote design team members to meet and exceed project schedule and quality goals. You will assist in the civil discipline portions of business development activities.  This includes developing civil scope and engineering level of effort estimates as well as maintaining project budgets and schedules. Job Expectations:

  • Perform engineering work with the Civil Design Discipline team on water and wastewater projects including pipelines, pumping stations, and site layout for municipal and private industrial clients.
  • Work on, and lead civil efforts on, engineering designs preparing reports, construction drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment selection for various project.
  • Knowledge and understanding of pipeline hydraulics for both open channel and closed conduits.
  • Preparation of technical memoranda, reports and electronic deliverables
  • Studies, permitting and alternative analysis
  • Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications through field inspections as part of engineering services during construction.
  • Perform submittal reviews, requests for information, correspondence, change requests, and change orders for construction projects.
  • Conduct field work, such as site investigations, as necessary for various projects.
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (Engineers, Designers).
  • Data collection, manipulation, analysis, and documentation
  • Coordinate civil project work with geotechnical, architectural, process, mechanical, and electrical engineers and consultants.
  • Contribute to company standard detail and specification development and updates.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years’ professional experience in municipal and/or industrial civil design including water and wastewater pipelines and site work; and construction administration required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience with Navisworks 2013 (or newer) software a plus
  • Experience working with local and area permitting agencies to obtain site and storm water permits for industrial/municipal site development
  • Professional Engineering license plus ability to obtain license in additional states as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record may be required
  • Experience coordinating with staff performing Civil 3D is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to use standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint required
  • Experience using engineering calculation software (MathCAD) preferred
  • Good technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and verbally
  • Good written and verbal communication skills essential.
  • Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD 2013 & AutoCAD Civil 3D (or newer) software required
