Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Work with subject matter experts to understand the topics to be able to best describe equipment and processes to all levels of plant personnel
  • Objectively plan communications in the most straighforward way for a high degree of understanding on the part of the user
  • Write, edit, assemble, publish technical manuals, bulletins and other related technical media for all Wagstaff aluminum industry products
  • Administer content management system (Author-It)
  • Edit and review material in support of Wagstaff marketing activities such as webpages, product launch materials, and video scripts
  • Organize and coordinate technical educational video production
  • Provide general document/publishing/photography related services and consulting as necessary to internal customers
  • Identify process improvements and implement these improvements
  • In order to achieve business objectives, work weeks in excess of 40 hours may be required
  • Abide by company policies
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Five years' technical writing and publication experience
  • Bachelors’ degree in journalism, technical writing, or related; or combination of education and experience
  • Strong experience in machinery, mechanics, and automation
  • Experience with content management systems
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Excellent time management skills

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, work is performed primarily in an adequately lit, well ventilated, climate controlled general office environment.  Close computer work is regularly required.  The work usually involves minimal physical exertion.  The noise level in the general office environment is usually moderate. 

This job may require occasional or more frequent interaction with employees on the manufacturing shop floor.  While on the shop floor, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risks of moving equipment and parts, and other risks associated with a manufacturing environment.  Because of this environment and associated risks, coordination with shop floor managers/employees may be necessary before entering the shop floor, and use of job appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required on the shop floor.  The noise level on the shop floor is often loud.
