The employee in this position will provide direct, individualized art therapy to maintain, improve, or prevent regression of the individual’s condition. This position will also assist in the acquisition, retention, or improvement of skills necessary for the individual to live and work in the community.
The initial session of Art Therapy must include an assessment of the individual's need for the service. If additional sessions are indicated, therapists providing these services must develop a treatment plan that reflects individualized, attainable goals.
This position requires flexibility, adaptability, organization, preparation, communication, initiative and the ability to handle a multi-faceted environment. The focus is to provide each individual with training via their individual needs continuously and consistently. It is essential to be able to work as a team member and maintain good working relationships with all those involved.
