Director, Site Reliability Engineering – (San Diego, CA)

Job Summary:

Our Director of Site Reliability Engineering team is responsible for managing the team that ensures that our modern healthcare applications that are critical to doctors, administrators, and patients in the healthcare delivery process are available and have reliability and uptime. You will be responsible for applying an engineering mindset to implement and continuously improve upon the infrastructure and processes for deploying, monitoring, supporting, and optimizing our solutions.

Oversees the strategic direction for all stages of the software development process, including the design, coding, testing, and analysis of software programs and applications. Responsible for management of development teams and collaboration with the executive team to ensure alignment with organizational goals and overall strategy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • ‚ÄčOversee the project status reporting process
  • Monitor development projects to ensure adherence to established objectives, timelines, and budget limits.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the executive team and other internal stakeholders to determine strategic software development priorities.
  • Ensure distribution of project status updates to other departments to build awareness of current projects, gather feedback, and seek input for future initiatives.
  • Establish and cultivate strong business relationships with end users, IT professionals, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee the assembly of development project teams, task delegation, and staff scheduling.
  • Conduct performance appraisals, and provide coaching and mentoring, to software developers.
  • Encourage professional development, and ensure the presence of appropriate training initiatives, within the development team.
  • Participate in the hiring and training processes as necessary.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Computer Science, Information Systems.
  • 7 plus years of experience in Software Development.
  • Owned availability and performance of mission critical systems.
  • Built software as part of a larger project that involved continuous integration and frequent delivery.
  • Expertise in automation and optimization of build and deployment pipelines.
  • Experience using DevOps techniques and technologies.
  • Ability to manage high-performance development teams.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills, including an ability to thrive in a team-based setting.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects across several development teams.
  • Ability to effectively address shifting priorities and demands in a deadline driven environment.
  • Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of programming languages including: Java, C, C++, SQL, tools, technologies, and infrastructure related to software development, and the capacity to master complex software products.
  • Proven project management skills in the context of software development.
  • Previous experience in the healthcare or finance industry desired, but not required.
