Security/Communication Technician (Access Control, CCTV and IDS)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Installation of work area outlets for floor, modular furniture and wall terminated CAT 3,5 and 6 RJ45 jacks
  • Mount face plates and surface mount boxes correctly
  • Installation of security systems to include Mag locks, door contacts, card readers and wiring in panels,  Software house CCURE 8000/9000 a plus
  • Build of Communication closets to include but not limited to mounting and installing backboards and various  punch down blocks, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic (LIU’s) and hardware to include cable tray, ladder racks and conduit
  • Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required
  • Perform testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable, use of volt-ohmmeter, troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts and transposed pairs on horizontal and riser cable, use a tone out set
  • Terminate and test and splice fiber optic cable
  • Test using an OTDR, Fluke DTX 1800
    Troubleshoot using an OTDR to identify and correct problems end to end, and Network wide

Additional Skills/Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required
  • 4+ years trade/vocational school or related work experience preferred
  • self-motivated, potential Foreman leadership qualities preferred
  • The ability to read blueprints and schematics required

Minimum Physical Job Requirements:

  • Able lift 50 pounds or more
  • Able to climb ladders
  • Able to frequently bend, sit, and stand for long periods of time  
  • Able to crawl into small and/or confined spaces
  • Good communication skills required

Pay Range: Pay based on your level of experience and past performance
