SECOND YEAR LINE APPRENTICE
Location: English, IN
SCOPE
To perform any assigned tasks of a routine nature, involving the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, testing, maintenance, repair and operation of transmission line facilities and equipment.
To participate in on-the-job training and in any required course work or other educational opportunities in order to upgrade transmission line skills and knowledge and in order to enhance the possibilities for greater responsibility.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or its equivalent, plus successful completion of required HEATS Apprentice course work, or its equivalent, as described in "SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE" below.
EXPERIENCE
One year with an electric utility or some other heavy industry, equivalent to the first year of the transmission line apprenticeship.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Basic blueprint reading; math and measurements; hand tools and portable power tools; climbing and construction; transmission line hardware, apparatus and conductors; troubleshooting skills; transmission line facilities, equipment and safety practices; must qualify for and maintain the appropriate driver's license in order to operate heavy vehicles.
PAY GRADE
Per bargaining unit contract.

Headquarters near English, Indiana with frequent day trips throughout southern Indiana and occasional overnight stays as required.
