Summary:

The primary function of this position is to support in managing claims and safety testing for all products

Assistant Manager Claims and Efficacy will manage R&D project documentation and samples between Benefit, LVMH and Manufacturer personnel

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage timelines for all claim due dates, and alert R&D Director if any project timelines are in jeopardy
  • Oversee that the Claims Status Report (CSR) is maintained and always contain the most current information
  • Measure Claims and Efficacy performance through quarterly reporting
  • Attend integrated timeline and handoff meetings to ensure all claims dates/requirements are noted by the project manager
  • Manage procuring samples (bulk + components) for claims and safety testing
  • Preparing documents, samples and any needed accoutrements for testing panels
  • Work with R&D Chemist team and Manufacturer Personnel to coordinate samples and applicators for required testing: HRIPT, Micro, SPF, Consumer panel claim, Instrumental claim testing etc
  • Responsible for uploading all milestones + task documentation: WPP, FPP, Claims test results, HSN Docs etc. in web-based planning/tracking tool
  • Work upstream with Senior Manager + R&D chemist to choose raw materials that support Formula Development Request (FDR) Marketing claims
  • Attend raw material supplier presentations to ensure that innovative raw materials are being used and researched
  • Support Senior Manager in sustainability initiatives- attend sustainability meetings and laisse with LVMH for tracking of RSPO + Mica goals
  • Cross train with Senior Manager to screen Draft FDR Claims, to ensure all claims from the FDR can be supported
  • Own the scheduling of all claims review meetings with Product Innovation/Copy/Regulatory teams
  • Work with Senior Manager as a back-up for Claims testing budget
  • Updates status for projects into various spreadsheets
  • Update excel reports, Visio or PowerPoint items for the Claims and Efficacy team as needed
  • Responsible for the filing and upkeep of the Claims and Efficacy documents for R&D project dossier
  • Assist in maintaining components for testing
  • Work with Senior Manager as a back-up for all necessary functions including interactions with LVMH and Benefit personnel
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in chemistry/related field or Associates degree with minimum 2+ years of experience in cosmetics industry or related field
  • Knowledge of cosmetics formulation/raw materials highly desired
  • Previous regulatory and/or legal affairs experience highly desired
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects (project management experience a plus)
  • Must easily adapt to priority changes and able to work on numerous simultaneous projects to meet established timelines
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented and be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to remain calm while working against a deadline
  • Proven ability to work in an efficient and timely manner
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Knowledge of computer programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Projects)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required
