Great Hall Event Assistants
The West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) is dedicated to furthering the ideals and promoting the welfare of the United States Military Academy (USMA), and to supporting and serving its graduates. USMA is renowned as one of the world's preeminent leader development institutions. The student body, or Corps of Cadets, numbers 4,400 and each year approximately 1,000 cadets graduate and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army. The WPAOG is seeking Great Hall Event Assistants for the Alumni Support Department. This position reports directly to the Director of Alumni Services. As part of the Alumni Services Team, this individual will work on an as-needed basis for events taking place at the Herbert Hall Alumni Center. Primary responsibilities include setup and tear down for events taking place in the Great Hall. This will include: moving, setting up, and cleaning up furniture; some light janitorial responsibilities; assisting with event execution. Incumbent will also be cross-trained to assist in Gift Shop operations including: customer service, inventory control, point-of-sale training, managing heavy traffic, etc. Other duties may be assigned as needed, for both Great Hall and Gift Shop operations. The Assistants are expected to be knowledgeable of USMA and WPAOG activities and programs. Must be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 30 lbs without assistance repeatedly during a shift, and have decent verbal and written communication skills. Operating carts, dollies, and other moving equipment is required. Ability to work as part of a team under minimum supervision is required. After hours and weekend work is required. Minimum of 16 years of age with working papers required. A high school diploma is a plus. Must have reliable transportation and ability to work nights and weekends.
