Multimedia Content Specialist

The West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) is dedicated to furthering the ideals and promoting the welfare of the United States Military Academy (USMA), and to supporting and serving its graduates.  USMA is renowned as the world's preeminent leadership development institution.  The student body, or Corps of Cadets, numbers 4,400 and each year approximately 1,000 cadets graduate and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army.

The West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) is seeking a Multimedia Content Specialist. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Communications & Marketing, and is within the Communications & Marketing Department.

The Multimedia Content Specialist is responsible for telling stories for print and digital distribution using multiple forms of media: text, photography, graphics and video. The Multimedia Content Specialist will collaborate with multiple department members to create print, digital and social media content.

The Multimedia Content Specialist generates and repurposes content for all WPAOG C&M communications channels (print, website, email, social media) and provides content support as needed to other C&M content creators (e.g. photography for an article or social media post, event photography as requested, copy writing) and other WPAOG communications clients (Alumni Support, Executive Office, Development) as requested.

The Multimedia Content Specialist works with WPAOG Staff, West Point graduates, cadets, staff and faculty, and donors and friends of West Point to tell WPAOG and USMA stories in a compelling manner, and serves a variety of communications functions: Writer, Photographer, Digital / Social Media Content Producer, and Video Production Assistant as required. The Multimedia Specialist works both in the office and on location when required for covering news stories and produces content for all communications channels through photography/videography assignments, copy writing / editing/ proofreading, photo selection and image creation.

This position requires a resourceful individual who is a visual storyteller, a good researcher and strong writer, who can deliver information in a consumable and attractive format.

The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communications skills. Must be able to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven communications setting.  A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing or other related field is required. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, in-depth knowledge of social media platforms, and photography experience required. 2-3 years related job experience is preferred. Experience at an academic institution is highly desirable, familiarity with West Point and the military a plus. At times, occasional work outside of normal office hours and on weekends will be required to cover special events.
