Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager is responsible for timely and accurate general ledger closings to meet accounting calendar deadlines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervise, train, and evaluate employees to enhance their performance, development of operational and functional departments.

  2. Review and approve timecards for staff. Manage and update Kronos as needed.

  3. Prepare and or review appropriate general ledger entries and reconciliations.

  4. Help prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

  5. Provide support and guidance for technical accounting issues.

  6. Prepare various monthly, weekly and annual reports quarterly.

  7. Work on special projects and assist senior management when necessary.

  8. Assist in providing support for tax, audit, and examination process, including audited financial statement.

  9. Assist in documenting internal processes/controls as well as identifying actionable insights and suggest recommendations to address issues and improve accounting processes/efficiencies.

  10. Design, refine and optimize assigned accounts monthly close procedures, taking into consideration all necessary dependencies, and execute timely and accurately.

  11. Partner with cross-functional teams on a regular basis to identify areas for improvement and solve problems.

  12. The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing and other duties will be assigned based on the position’s role within the business unit.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business -related field

  • CPA preferred

  • Minimum 5 years of leadership and generally accepted accounting principles experience

  • Can be a combination of education, training and relevant experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Oracle preferred

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary

  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude

  • Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position

  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player

  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others

TRAVEL:

  • Up to 25%

WORKING CONDITIONS:

General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning

Noise level is usually low to medium

Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
