Senior Manager, Data & Analytics


Senior Manager, Data & Analytics

The Sr. Manager, Data & Analytics will be responsible for one or more software development teams that are responsible for the design, development, support and maintenance of large scale reporting and analytics platforms.  This position will be a fully contributing member of a team working under broad guidance with independent planning and execution responsibilities.


  • Lead technical strategies to meet business objectives.
  • Hire and retain top technical talent to repeatedly deliver high quality software solutions.
  • Regularly present to and engage in discussions with senior leadership on project status and technical direction.
  • Work with various technical leaders and peers to ensure technical cohesion and product excellence across solutions.
  • Provide mentorship and direction of development staff.
  • Assume direct responsibility over certain areas of the cross-functional team including External Validation, Documentation, and User Experience.
  • Determine process improvements and implement process improvements with other leadership stakeholders to improve and stream-line the software construction process.
  • Communicate to development staff, senior Engineering management, and other departments the status of releases and any issues that need to be resolved.  Assist Product Owners and Scrum Master in release planning, reviewing/adjusting priorities, assigning stories to Scrum Teams working on one or more projects.
  • Review the status of these projects on a weekly basis utilizing development tracking tools such as sprint and release burn down and defect tracking reports.
  • Serve as top escalation point for customer production escalations.
  • Coordinate with Beta program managers to define and gather technical and quality-related input from successful betas
  • Prepare and deliver annual performance reviews for development staff.
  • Monitor development staff’s productivity and ensure staff is working on tasks that have been designated as priority.  
  • Keep up-to-date on new technology.
  • Develop continuing education plans for staff and monitor status for meeting plans.
  • Monitor customer open issue trends and analyze for opportunities to make changes for improvements based upon customer issue volume.
  • Monitor quality trends and analyze for opportunities to improve quality best practices.
  • Ensure that the development staff is following up-to-date coding techniques and adhering to all development standards.
  • Provide input to and manage your annual team budget.
  • Help with RFP process as needed.
  • Design UI based on a product vision, client needs and user stories
  • Create high-quality, engaging designs under tight deadlines
  • Adhere and improve style guidelines
  • Work with managers and team members to understand workflows and design accordingly.
  • Potentially perform work onsite at our Raleigh office

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience with large reporting and analytics systems.
  • Experience managing teams of 8 or more individuals. 
  • Experience with Agile Scrum methodology.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to multi-task.
  • Self-motivated self-starter.
  • History of delivering and maintaining high quality products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree 
  • 10+ years in software development/ data analytics experience
  • 5+ years of management experience.

Preferred skills:

  • Experience developing solutions in healthcare.
  • Experience working with 3rd party entities for consuming technology and developing solutions
  • Experience with one or more of the following BI / BA technologies: Tableau, OLAP, SSAS, SAS, R, Python
  • Experience with Analysis Services / Data Mining
  • Ability to demonstrate supportive relationships with peers, clients, partners, and corporate executives.
  • Ability to retain and protect confidential material.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
