Production Supervisor

Omnicell, Inc. has an exciting opportunity open for a Production Supervisor to join our Manufacturing Team at our manufacturing facility in Warrendale, PA. The Production Supervisor will oversee manufacturing operations and will be responsible for performing planning, coordination, and control of manufacturing processes and resources;  leading production staff to ensure high Quality, low cost and On-time delivery to our valued customers; while driving Continuous Improvement activities to enhance Safety and production efficiency.

The Production Supervisor will report to the Sr. Manager Production and assist in the implementation and execution of the manufacturing plan, provide leadership, efficient workflow direction, developmental opportunities and a positive, healthy and safe work environment for all department personnel.



  • Provide supervision and assign daily tasks to employees in their respective work cells.
  • Coach, train and develop employees in a lean manufacturing team environment.
  • Coordinate and communicate monthly metric data and needed production information for use by the Plant Manager, team members, planner/scheduler, engineering, and materials departments.
  • Screen, select, train and retain team members needed to complete the production plan.
  • Maintain current understanding and educate employees in related production procedures, production schedules, company policies and procedures. Provide consistent application of the above within the Plant.
  • Assess the performance of personnel within the Performance Management System.
  • Take a leadership role in maintaining a consistent, high level of quality, and maintaining the quality system in place for medical devices.
  • Maintain knowledge and provide training for the company MRP and electronic KANBAN process.
  • Design and generate production reports, training procedures, safety policies, and product quality standards in a timely manner to support the production plan as needed.
  • Work with engineering on all design changes, cost reduction projects and assist in implementation.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by taking a preventive approach to eliminating the root cause for potential injuries.
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility for the materials used in the Plant.
  • Maintain employee records such as discipline records, accident reports, training records and attendance.
  • Review and approve employee time cards on a weekly basis.
  • Recommend process, quality, and cost improvements.
  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organizational standards.

Required knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes (task time, line speeds, capacity planning) and ability to schedule assigned labor based on production requirements and handle multiple tasks effectively
  • Demonstrated Team Leadership experience
  • Ability to coach and motivate employees to achieve excellent results
  • Possesses a keen focus on employee safety and establishing a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Understanding of inventory control practices.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong management and leadership skills and demonstrated ability to effectively lead and motivate a diverse group of employees
  • Audit participation procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance. Participate in Internal and / or External audits such as ISO, EHS, etc.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree with 5+ years of work experience in a supervisory  /leadership role in manufacturing -

(In lieu of Associates degree, a high school diploma with at least 10+ years of work experience in a supervisory  /leadership role in manufacturing

  • Experience with an ERP System (SAP, Oracle, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Engineering or Business Management Related) 
  • Work experience in a leadership role in manufacturing of medical devices
  • Process orientation and good aptitude for problem solving in mechanical and electrical assemblies.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, metrics based management, and 5S programs
  • Knowledge of ISO, environment, safety and ESD standards and systems.
  • Experience with medical device manufacturing and / or regulated products quality systems.
  • Experience in Six Sigma and Quality skills training
