Software Quality Engineer III

Omnicell has an opening for a Software Quality Engineer III to join our Software Development Team located in Cranberry Township, PA.  We are focused on making a difference in healthcare and developing solutions that will help shape the future of medication management.  Our team thrives on the spirit of innovation and is dedicated to solving our customers’ most pressing needs.  We are looking for an enthusiastic software quality engineer who has a passion for producing quality products to join our team. 

As a Central Pharmacy team member, you will work hard with a team of engineers to deliver new innovation to the central pharmacies for health systems throughout the world.  Our solutions help to drive better outcomes for patients by removing errors and automating tasks.  Each day you will make an impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs and executes both manual and automated functional, system, integration, regression, and performance tests.
  • Documents defects and failures in accordance with established quality standards.
  • Works with design, development, and the Agile Product Owner to identify high-risk test areas early in the development process.
  • Designs test plans, test strategies, and test cases that effectively mitigate high-risk test areas with limited assistance.
  • Troubleshoots and performs root cause analysis for moderate to complex issues.
  • Evaluates, recommends and executes appropriate automated testing strategies.
  • Recommends improvements to the software development process to improve effectiveness and efficiency while removing impediments from the team.
  • Provides mentoring and coaching to less experienced Software Quality Engineers.
  • Drives promotes, and measures team performance against sprint and project goals. 
  • Meets the definition of done and promotes established quality practices within the team.
  • Understands the drivers and requirements of the business and translates those into technology solutions
  • Works within the team to build product deliverables based on overall architecture direction.
  • Works with the scrum team to provide Quality and Value for our customers.
  • Works with the scrum team and Agile Product Owner to drive the creation of project stories that align with the project goals.
  • Works with the team to continuously improve software quality practices and processes.
  • Responsible for working on business critical products that operate 24/7/365 and are distributed nationwide to many clients

Required Knowledge/Skills:

  • Expertise in Software Quality methodologies and processes.
  • Experience in as many of the following areas: GUI testing, web application testing, networking, and various software OS & hardware platforms.
  • Experience in functional, integration, white box, and black box testing.
  • Ability to execute tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Creative, self-motivated, and willing to learn new technology.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Agile testing methodologies and best practices.
  • Ability to establish rapport and communicate with people at all levels of an organization.
  • Strong organizational skills - Ability to organize, analyze and execute several concurrent tasks and activities.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years’ experience in software engineering
  • 2+ years automated test development experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Software development experience
  • Experience with the following technologies:
    •  programing, especially in object-oriented code design
    • Relational Databases (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
    • Unit Testing in .Net, Ruby, and C# development stacks
    • Automated Testing Tools (e.g. Jasmine, Selenium, RanoRex, Protractor).
  • Medical Device/Healthcare experience
