Software Quality Engineer I


Description

Engineer I, Software Quality

OmniCenter Web Applications team is seeking talented and highly-motivated individuals with a passion for quality. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing and executing automated and manual tests for Web applications in our pursuit of high product quality and customer experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Work independently or as part of a Scrum Team to turn user stories into production-ready, quality features and applications
  • Use software testing best practices to prevent and detect defects throughout software development phases
  • Design and Develop test plans/ test cases to validate software design and implementation using manual and automation tools.
  • Understand software code and workflows, debug issues from log files and write effective automation.
  • Participate and lend credible inputs during release planning, test case reviews, sprint planning and grooming sessions.
  • Participate in product automation efforts for earlier identification of functional issues and continuous improvement of regression suite coverage.
  • Apply a wide range of testing techniques to verify software solutions
  • Document defects so they can be reproduced and regressed
  • Collaborate with programmers in all phases of development and testing
  • Understand the various hospital workflows that are impacted by Omnicell products

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of testing methodologies and strategies, including: black box, grey box, and white box testing; feature, functional, continuous integration, and regression testing.
  • Familiarity in non-functional testing such as load, stress, and performance testing
  • Experience in programming using C# (preferred) or Java, SQL Server AND front-end technologies.
  • Good understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile/Scrum based testing in particular
  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Engineering or related fields
  • Experience in testing and automating Web client application workflows.
  • 0-2 years’ hands on experience in software testing.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity in writing automation code using descriptive programming at Service/API layers.
  • Familiarity with using test automation framework and tools.
  • Familiarity of testing localized applications.
  • Familiarity of application lifecycle management tools such as Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS), GIT – Experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Healthcare industry.
