Manufacturing Engineer II                                          

As part of the Manufacturing engineering team at Omnicell, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and manufacturing of electro-mechanical systems for medical equipment.  The candidate would interface across all of the Manufacturing as well as the Engineering, Marketing, Q/A, and Purchasing groups.  There will also be significant interaction and collaboration with our key suppliers, contract manufacturers and at customer sites.  This role requires a high degree of expertise with fabrication processes along with a proven ability to resolve technical challenges to support product development and continuous improvement activities.  The appropriate candidate will possess deep knowledge of lean manufacturing principles including process mapping, value stream analysis, Poka Yoke, 5S, Kaizen, DMAIC or similar structured problem-solving tools, etc.


  • Drive and ensure manufacturing processes and procedures comply with cGMP, FDA, OSHA, ISO, corporate and divisional regulations, policies, and procedures (i.e. process qualification/validation, operation procedures, accurate standards, documentation, etc.)

  • Design and develop new manufacturing processes for new products

  • Assist suppliers with developing processes for fabrication of parts

  • Complete time study for direct and indirect labor operations

  • Develop Lean Production Cells and Plant Layouts

  • Identify/implement cost savings opportunities

  • Analyze product cost drivers

  • Create and continuously support 5S safety/ergonomic features, equipment, and fixtures

  • Train production teams

  • Drive process and engineering changes through to implementation

  • Advise cross-functional team of issues that affect productivity, quality, cost, and safety

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Design of Experiments (DOE)

  • CAD Tools: Solid Works, Pro-E, etc.

  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to foster positive relationships with offshore and domestic contract manufacturers and OEM partners

  • Must have a proven track record of diagnosing, troubleshooting, collecting and analyzing data and performing structured problem solving to resolve issues arising at Customers, Suppliers, Factory or Engineering

  • Must have a complete understanding of Product Development Processes (PDP) including the New Product Introduction Process (NPI)

  • Must have the ability and desire to work collaboratively with peers across the entire product realization work stream to continuously improve products and processes resulting in higher quality and lower cost

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Manufacturing discipline

  •  At least 5 years of experience in high tech discrete manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years'of experience in high tech discrete manufacturing environment

  • Experience in a medical device manufacturing ISO 13485 environment

  • Black or Green Belt certification or equivalent lean six sigma training

Work Conditions:

  • Must be able to travel a minimum of 10% of the time domestic and international

  • Will work in an office and manufacturing environment
