Principal Mechanical Engineer


Description

Principal Mechanical Engineer

Lead engineering teams through the entire product development cycle, from early concept definition through release to manufacturing production. This involves working with a cross-functional development team and ownership of project schedules, budgets, and resource tracking. The candidate would interface across all levels within the company and collaborate with hardware & software Engineering, Marketing, and manufacturing.
This role requires demonstrated engineering leadership skills, with an ability to resolve technical challenges, including experience as a technical lead for the integration and test activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate and mentor Mechanical Engineers for designing and developing electromechanical systems.
  • Analyze technology, resource needs and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
  • Lead the execution of mechanical engineering related projects, applying acquired expertise for bringing in new technical ideas and solutions to complex technical problems in the design of mechanical systems, subsystems and components.
  • Continuously improve processes and procedures for functional excellence.
  • Work closely with cross functional team for approval of specifications required for a project design or redesign task.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • 5-10 years hands-on experience in design and development of complex Electro-Mechanical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Finite Element Analysis, 3D Solid Modeling, Geometric Tolerancing, Material Science,
  • Experience designing products for serviceability, manufacturability and reliability
  • Five or more years working with production vendors and contract manufacturers as well as rapid prototyping.
  • Innovative and creative thinking
  • Team player with strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • 10-15 years’ experience in design and development of complex Electro-Mechanical systems with at least 5 years in automation systems.
  • Proven track record of successfully bringing products to market
  • Experience with regulatory requirements and the approval process
  • Languages - Native German speaker and English is desirable
