Description

Engineer III, Software Quality

Software quality engineer develops and executes exploratory, manual and automated unit tests to ensure software quality.   As a crucial part of the R&D team, the candidate will help establish and evolve the software and design quality assurance practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Review product requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
  • Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases with defect management, tracking and triage.
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities.
  • Maintain existing test cases, scripts and frameworks.
  • Performing manual & automated tests to verify product functionality and performance, analyze results and assess automation effectiveness.
  • Where appropriate, design, develop and execute automation scripts using open source tools.
  • Provide design quality assurance consulting to multiple product engineering teams.
  • Drives, promotes and measures team performance against the sprint and project goal.
  • Works with the team to continuously improve in development quality practices and process.
  • Troubleshoots complex problems with existing or newly-developed products.
  • Participate as active member of the IV Solutions design quality assurance team on a daily basis.
  • Test and approve incremental software changes using exploratory and formal software verification methods.
  • Identify, record, document thoroughly, and track bugs.
  • Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved.
  • Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts.
  • Stay up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies.
  • Provide technical mentoring to less-experienced members of the engineering team.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent working knowledge of testing methodologies and strategies, including: black box, and white box testing; feature, functional, integration, reliability, and regression testing.
  • Demonstrated ability in increasing functional test coverage and enhancing test frameworks (scalability, reliability).

  • Strong analytical, design and problem solving skills. Proactively solve problems and suggest process improvements.
  • Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test case.
  • Firm understanding and knowledge of databases.
  • Ability to adapt and willingness to learn new technology or techniques.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while remaining on-task and deadline oriented.
  • Proven skills in data analysis, data/design verification, and problem-solving.
  • Past experience of software quality assurance.
  • Strong knowledge of various Microsoft Operating Systems.
  • Strong knowledge of test tools.
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes.
  • Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting.
  • Required Knowledge and Skills.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of application and quality lifecycle management tools such as Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS).
  • Experience working in an Agile development process.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in a testing environment with a strong knowledge of test methodologies and software release cycles.
  • Proven work experience in software quality assurance.
  • Proven work experience with robotics, system, and embedded software testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. Degree in Computer Science.
  • Healthcare industry experience.
  • Experience Medical device product development life cycle experience.

Work Conditions:

  • Office-Based
  • Possibility of travel across different company Location in Europe and USA.
