Electrical Test Engineer III


Description

Electrical Test Engineer III 

Omnicell is currently searching for an Electrical Engineer to support the testing of pharmacy automation equipment. We need your valuable verification test experience as part of Omnicell’s hardware test engineering team. In this role, the Electrical Engineer will work as an Electrical Test Engineer (TE) interfaces with all levels of the company and collaborates with engineering, SWD, marketing, manufacturing, quality, and purchasing as well as other cross-functional teams.  The TE exhibits leadership and manages testing and qualifying of large-scale electromechanical systems to design requirements and medical industry standards.  The individual is responsible for the quality of new hardware product designs.  Most importantly, the TE exhibits the desire and ability to collaborate and excels in teamwork and communication. Omnicell is all about continuous improvement, and this professional thrives in such an environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Define the overall test strategy for systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Develop and execute Evaluation Tests, Engineering Verification Tests (EVT) and Design Validation Tests (DVT), and Reliability Tests (RT) for medical equipment/systems with the assistance of other test engineers, interns, and technicians.
  • Define product test plans and overall test solutions.
  • Evaluate test results, investigate product test failures, analyze performance problems, define root causes, recommend corrective actions, and write test reports.
  • Design and implement manual and automated test solutions at a system level and sub-system level to support the testing of robotic and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Conduct failure modes and effect analysis (FMEA) of system level and sub-system level designs to identify high-risk areas requiring testing.
  • Direct support of customers, to include travel to off-site locations as necessary to evaluate field issues.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to suppliers and vendors to assist with test development and production ramp up
  • Focus on improving the overall test capability of the department.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to create, read electrical schematics and assembly drawings as well as understand their functions.
  • Knowledge of UL/TUV/CSA, FCC/CE standards, and test requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-starter, capable of working independently as well as building strong cross-functional collaborative relationships.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and assist cross-functional teams with the debugging of complex issues.
  • The candidate must be highly motivated to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering
  • 4+ years of a verification or design testing of medical, laboratory, military, or industrial equipment.
  • Experience with designing electronic components such as PCBAs, wiring harnesses electronic assemblies, etc….

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in
    • defining and executing efficient and effective test methods that verify product requirements including reliability and life cycle requirements automated
    • test systems including data acquisition systems.
    • reliability data analysis such as Weibull or exponential life cycle modeling
    • one or more of the following: LabView, Atlium, and C#, C++ and VB.
    • project lead role as well as supervisory role.
    • FMEA process and statistical tests methods including Design of Experiments (DOE).
    • RS232, USB, Ethercat, CPLDs, microcontrollers, etc…
    • robotic programming or vison experience
  • Demonstrated experience with designing automated and manual test sets for testing electromechanical and robotic assemblies including the integration of off the shelf test equipment.
  • Working experience with FDA regulated, ISO13485, or other highly regulated environments.
