Omnicell has an opening for a Software Engineer IV to join our Software Development Team located in Mountain View, CA.  We are focused on making a difference in healthcare and developing solutions that will help shape the future of medication management.  Our team thrives on the spirit of innovation and is dedicated to solving our customers’ most pressing needs.  We are looking for an enthusiastic software developer to join our team who has a passion for solving challenging problems and are team players that work hard to help the team succeed. 

As a development team member, you will be part of a highly motivated team of engineers focused on delivering product updates and new features across our product line throughout the world, improving Omnicell’s award-winning products.  Our solutions help to drive better outcomes for patients by removing errors and automating tasks.  Each day you will make an impact.


  • Works within the team to build product deliverables based on overall architecture direction
  • Works with a scrum team on providing quality and value to our customers
  • Works in an agile environment implementing complex code changes for specific requirements or applications
  • Works with the scrum team and Agile Product Owner to drive the creation of project stories with an awareness of the project goal
  • Understands the drivers and requirements of the business and translates those into technology solutions
  • Drives and develops structural and logical/algorithmic design
  • Creates unit, functional, and integration testing environment or components and root cause analyses (replicate, debug) for moderate to complex features. 
  • Meets the definition of done and promotes coding standards.
  • Ensures unintentional technical debt is not created
  • Leads design and peer review sessions to ensure code meets all team standards
  • Recommends improvements to the software delivery cycle to help remove waste and impediments for the team
  • Works with the team to continuously improve in development practices and process
  • Responsible for working on business critical products that operate 24/7/365 and are distributed nationwide to many clients
  • Troubleshoots complex problems with existing or newly-developed software to determine root cause
  • Mentoring and coaching of Software Engineers

Required Knowledge/Skills:

  • Good teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
  • Understanding of industry best practices and processes associated with software development
  • Experience with the following technologies:
    • Fully proficient in C#/.NET Framework
    • Skilled in .NET service implementation and tuning
    • Experience with enterprise server development 
    • Design and implementation of software solutions
    • Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture
    • Working knowledge of computer databases and SQL Server
    • Technical writing, system documentation, design document-management skills
    • Object Oriented Development
    • Software Development Patterns

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience
  • Eight plus years’ experience in software engineering.   

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Healthcare experience is a plus
  • Good knowledge of agile development (especially Scrum and / or Kanban)
  • Experience developing Microservices
  • Experience developing distributed services on message broker platforms such as RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ and Azure Service Bus
  • Experience designing and developing Restful APIs
  • Experience working with document database such as MongoDB and Key Value Stores such as Redis
  • Distributed version control systems such as Git
