Mechanical Engineer II, Hardware

Omnicell has a wonderful opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer II at our Warrendale facility.  As our Mechanical Engineer will interface with all levels of Omnicell engineering, and adeptly collaborates with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and cross-functional teams. You will exhibit proficiency in mechanical engineering tasks, to support a variety of product development and test activities.  
This up-and-coming professional exhibits a desire to learn from senior leadership and colleagues, and embraces a wide variety of tasks, to best support the team and take Omnicell engineering to the next level.


  • Solves technical challenges, provides data analysis, and incorporates strong problem solving skills.
  • Researches, investigates, and tests new mechanical product concepts and assists in the support of existing products.
  • Builds prototypes, as needed, to verify the design
  • Writes test plans based on design requirements, technical specifications, and product proposals;
  • Documents and releases product designs into the company PLM  
  • Executes engineering verification tests (EVTs) and design verification tests (DVT); write test reports, and make recommendations for improvements
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots issues reported by Manufacturing QA or customers; support manufacturing and vendor requests
  • Makes suggestions for design improvements and cost reductions for existing products

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Design of Experiments
  • Skilled at working with CAD Tools: Solid Works, and ProE
  • Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis
  • Knowledge of 3D printing 
  • Skilled working with Tool shop:  Mill, Lathe, Sheet Metal Forming
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Basic Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, or  Product Design
  • Two years Mechanical Design experience.

Preferred Requirements:

  • MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Product Design
