Manufacturing Controls Engineer


Description

 

Omnicell is currently hiring for a Manufacturing Controls Engineer to join our manufacturing team in Warrendale, PA. The Controls Engineer will report to the Sr. Manager Manufacturing Engineering and will be responsible for developing and coordinating the implementation of Electrical systems for Production Processes and Testing of Pharmacy Robotic systems; developing applications on programmable logic controllers and peripheral interfaces and also support on-going maintenance of production equipment; being involved with the development of Robotic Systems test design and execution.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Research and analyze proposals or specifications to determine the feasibility of design or application.
  • Recognize and analyze problem areas with equipment and provide logical and concise solutions.
  • Provide technical assistance to various departments, along with Project development support.
  • Work with vendors to provide the best solution to an application.  This includes, but is not limited, developing a good working relationship with various vendors, while arriving at cost-effective solutions.
  • Train and instruct others in programming, troubleshooting, and other proper repair techniques.
  • Have a complete understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control requirements.
  • Plan and organize an effective workload to obtain proper and maximum utilization of directed personnel.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to plan, organize and direct an effective workload to obtain maximum utilization of assigned personnel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Experience with project lead role.
  • Experience with defining efficient and effective test methods that verify product requirements including reliability and life cycle requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience with designing & implementing automated and manual test sets for testing electromechanical and robotic assemblies including the integration of off the shelf test equipment.
  • Experience with FMEA process and statistical tests methods including Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Ability to create, read electrical schematics, part and assembly drawings as well as understand their functions.
  • Experience with RS232, USB, Ethernet, CPLDs, microcontrollers, etc. Experienced in Electrical Autocad & SolidWorks
  • Experience in C programming, VBA or VB#
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Electrical or Mechanical, Robotics field of study
  • 5+ years of experience in all facets of Automated Manufacturing equipment in an industrial facility. 
  • Work related experience in developing applications on programmable logic controllers and peripheral interfaces.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working experience with FDA regulated, ISO13485, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial robotics
  • Experience ECR, ECO process, LabView, AutoCad, ProE, Solid Works and Orcad.
