Network Engineer II


Network Engineer II

Omnicell is currently hiring for a Network Engineer II to work at our corporate headquarters in Mountain View CA.  The Network Engineer will be responsible for providing configuration and system management support to the company's network infrastructure;  assisting existing Network Engineering team in providing support for all LAN/WAN network devices throughout various production, development, and testing environments while maintaining a high-level network security posture; and assisting existing Network Engineering team in providing network design, troubleshooting, configuration management, and support for all local area, wide area, and wireless networks.  This position supports all Omnicell sites, including remote data centers.



  • Assist in management of VLAN solutions to support business requirements
  • Provide technical expertise in business initiatives and projects
  • Provide day-to-day support of the LAN, WAN, WLAN, VLAN
  • Monitor network utilization and prepare reports reflecting utilization statistics
  • Evaluate new and emerging network security trends, products and technologies
  • Proactively identify, isolate and resolve network problems to avoid minimal impact to the business


Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Very strong knowledge of current networking systems including routers, switches, VPNs
  • Knowledge of L2 technologies-VLANs/VLAN tagging, Spanning Tree, EtherChannel, port-channels, trunk ports VTP.
  • Knowledge of L3 technologies-IP Sub-netting, IP routing,
  • Experience with MPLS technologies, L3 VPN and VPLS.
  • Experience dealing with MPLS vendors to troubleshoot issues.
  • Familiarity with Cisco IOS, Cisco IOS-XR and CatOS
  • Experience installing and configuring Cisco network hardware and software, including Cisco Catalyst modular chassis switches
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to adjust to changes in customer demands or operational goals.
  • Results oriented and can demonstrate a 'can-do' attitude, adaptability, flexibility, and resourcefulness.
  • Strong teamwork with peers with a consultative solution approach.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task.


Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree  Computer Science or Information Technology
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in supporting multisite network infrastructures


Preferred Requirements:

  • Desired Certifications: CCNP or CCIE
  • Technologies: Cisco ios route/switch, Cisco Nexus, Routing protocols, VPN, Wireless.
