Description

Manager, Software Quality Engineering

The Software Quality Engineering (SQE) Manager will lead a focused team of software test engineers supporting the development of Omnicell’s products. The SQE Manager will be responsible for working with various cross functional team members to deliver the highest quality product.  As a Performance Center team member, you will work hard with a team of engineers on enterprise wide solutions for health systems throughout the world.  Our solutions help to drive improved financial performance, compliance, and better patient outcomes.  Each day you will make an impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing a team of highly motivated software test engineers working in Agile software development model in delivering highest quality products that meet or exceed the expectations of internal and external stakeholders
  • Handling multiple projects in a cross-functional environment, influence project direction, and make decisions with all levels of management
  • Delivering functional test automation and automated regression testing using a test automation tool in use within Omnicell.
  • Defining and driving software testing standards with respect to the entire software testing cycle
  • Building and maintaining a strong team environment among the Software Quality Engineering team as well as creating an environment of deep collaboration between the Testing and Development groups
  • Providing technical leadership, direction, strategy and hand-on assistance to other members of the team
  • Creating the strategy around quality metrics for the product and communicate these metrics to engineering management and other key stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Proactively managing performance and continually improving on the structure and scalability of the Software Quality Engineering organization 
  • Working with the development team members to analyze the code coverage and use this knowledge to enhance test scenarios/test coverage
  • Performing internal audits to verify compliance to documented procedures as defined by various ISO standards and HIPAA compliance in force within Omnicell
  • Providing input on annual budgeting and manage the team budget
  • Planning various hardware and software needs of the team
  • Driving the evaluation and study between various tools available in the market place used by quality testing teams that are aimed at improving overall product quality and improve the efficiencies of the team

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Management and team building experience in a rapid growth environment, proven technical accomplishments, and proven experience bringing new products with high reliability to market.
  • Strong SQE methodology background with emphasis on process and good software testing practices
  • Proven background in creating test plans and using various test design methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of various Microsoft server and client Operating Systems is mandatory
  • Strong knowledge of Relational Database Management with specialization in Microsoft SQL server is mandatory.
  • Ability to write DDL and DML statements using T-SQL is a plus
  • Prior understanding of health care industry and hospital working environment is desired

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science Engineering or related degree
  • 5+ years of experience in managing a software testing group that is responsible for testing a product developed using Microsoft technologies.
  • 2+ years of hands on working experience in designing and developing functional test automation scripts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience managing a software testing group on distributed systems
  • 3+ years of experience in managing a software testing group on a product/project that has successfully executed agile software development model (preferably SCRUM model)
  • Experience working with:
    • Automated testing technologies (e.g. Selenium, Protractor, NUnit)
    • Web technologies (e.g. Angularjs, jquery, javascript, ASP.Net MVC, etc
  • Experience working in:
    • Multi-tenant hosted platform
    • Data analytics and reporting (e.g. Hadoop, Spark, etc.)

Nice to Have:

  • DevOps experience
  • Experience with Python, Scala, or R
