Description

Engineer IV, Systems Design

Omnicell is currently hiring an Engineer IV, Systems Design responsible for system requirements definition, design concept formation, verification and validation of complex hardware and software medication management systems.  The Systems Engineer works closely with program management, software engineering, hardware engineering, and total product validation teams throughout the product development lifecycle to ensure that products meet overall system objectives.  This position resides within the Systems Engineering function of the Program Services team. 

Responsibilities:

  • Establish best practices and methodology for systems engineering across various product lines.
  • Drive collaboration between Marketing, Software engineering, Software quality assurance, Hardware engineering, Hardware test, and Firmware teams through a practical systems engineering process throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Develop system goals and requirements for complex systems. Able to balance business, technical, and customer requirements. Identify and monitor system metrics.
  • Create alternative system design concepts and selection criteria. 
  • Develop integration test requirements from inception to final requirements verification and validation. Define test strategy for internal and external customer beta testing.
  • Coordinate integrated system verification/validation efforts across engineering test disciplines. Guide and perform system test execution. Analyze results and validate requirements.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated ability to practically apply Systems Engineering frameworks and best practices to product development.
  • Ability to identify root causes of complex problems, define options, and facilitate decision making with appropriate data.
  • Experience with Root Cause and Corrective Action.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Reliability Engineering, FMEA methods, DFx processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a broad spectrum of individuals, teams, and functions to drive effective collaboration and results.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to cascade information, influence decisions, and align team members and executives. 
  • Candidate needs to be self-motivated and be able to determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.
  • Familiarity with data analysis, statistics, and machine learning techniques highly desired.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Sciences.
  • Requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent experience in one or more of following: requirements analysis, technical project management, process improvement, and risk management  Hands-on experience with design, development, validation, and installation of complex systems involving the integration of hardware, software, and firmware.
  • Experience with:
    • Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action procedures.
    • System modeling techniques, FMEA, and verification traceability.
    • Data analysis and statistics.

  • Up to 25% travel may be required to customer sites and corporate locations
