Description

Engineer V, Agile Coach
The Engineer V, Agile Coach will support one or more delivery teams within a fast-paced application development environment. As the Engineer V, Agile Coach, you will be a critical member of the core delivery team empowered to help build high performing, self-directed teams, build shippable product, and be responsible for leading Agile project coordination to support various upstream and downstream teams.

The Engineer V, Agile Coach serves as the servant leader for the team, maximizing the effectiveness of the team while ensuring a sustainable pace.  Additional responsibilities include ensuring clear communication, organization of the team and facilitating the core Scrum events.

The Engineer V, Agile Coach serves the organization by implementing cross-team Agile practices, such as developing and facilitating Communities of Practice, mentoring other Agilists, and conducting formal training sessions.  A particular focus on influencing leadership and guiding organizational practices essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Work within a delivery team empowered/tasked with design, development, modification, and implementation of computer applications. 
  • Build high-performing delivery teams.
  • Serve as Scrum Master/Agile Coach for 2-3 scrum teams.
  • Utilize project coordination expertise and tools to support upstream and downstream teams throughout SDLC.
  • Engage stakeholders and technical resources to analyze user needs and resource limitations.
  • Facilitate the discussions of complex, high value delivery projects that require the coordination of development work or technology work on multiple platforms.
  • Ensure transparency of work to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Represent the team at Scrum of Scrums meeting to report impediments for escalation.
  • Facilitate Scrum events: Stand-up, Planning, Retrospective, Refinement & Demo.
  • Facilitate impediment resolution in a timely, cost-effective manner.
  • Track and produce key metrics: burndown, burnup, velocity, etc.
  • Act as a conduit to other teams and lines of business (LOBs) with which the team is interacting.
  • Develop and conduct training on Agile practices.
  • Mentor and coach Scrum Masters.
  • Drive agile practices throughout the organization through Communities of Practice.
  • Mentor and coach agile leaders throughout your direct organization, including Product Owners, Functional Managers, and Development Team members.
  • Influence and implement best practices from different frameworks to achieve process that fits the needs of the organization.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Expertise in multiple Lean/Agile methodologies and practices
  • Proven record of developing high-performing teams
  • Ability to develop and conduct formal training classes
  • Successfully transitioned teams in the adoption of agile methodologies
  • Ability to develop and conduct formal training classes
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to influence in a Matrix Management model
  • Familiar with SaaS and Cloud based applications/environments
  • Experience with mission critical 24x7 systems
  • Strong coaching and communication skills
  • Replaces the line added to Senior Scrum Master (near the top of the list)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 4+ years of experience leading Agile Scrum teams/serving as a Scrum Master/Agile Coach
  • 12+ total years of software development experience (including experience as PM, BA, tester or developer)
  • Experience developing commercial solutions for external users

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Agile Certification (CSM, CSP, CSPO, SPC4, etc.)
  • Healthcare experience
  • Agile experience with hardware/devices

Work Conditions:

  • Ability to travel up to 35-40%
